Dax, Landes
Dax (; oc, Dacs; eu, Akize) is a Communes of France, commune in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, southwestern France, Subprefectures in France, sub-prefecture of the Landes (department), Landes Departments of France, department. It is known as a spa destination, specialising in mud treatment for rheumatism and similar ailments. Dax is also known for its tauromachy culture, especially during the August ferias, one of the most crowded festival events in France with 800,000 people attending over five days. It is also a market town, former bishopric and busy local centre, especially for the Chalosse area. Geography Dax lies on the river Adour, 30 km from the Atlantic Ocean and 42 km northwest of Bayonne. Dax station has rail connections to Paris, Hendaye, Tarbes, Bordeaux, Bayonne and Pau. Pierre Albaladejo
Pierre Albaladejo (born 14 December 1933 in Dax) is a former French rugby union player. His usual position was at fly-half or at fullback. He played all his career for Dax, from 1952/53 to 1965/66. He had 30 caps for France, from 1954 to 1964, scoring 16 conversions, 12 penalties and 12 drop goals, 104 points on aggregate. He achieved the rank of Officer in France's Legion of Honour. Dax Cathedral (french: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Dax) is a Roman Catholic church in the town of Dax in the Landes département of France. The diocese of Dax was not restored after the French Revolution but with several others, including Aire, was added to the Diocese of Bayonne by the Concordat of 1801. In 1817 the former dioceses of Dax and of Aire were again separated from that of Bayonne and joined to form the new Diocese of Aire and Dax, of which the bishop's seat was at Aire Cathedral. In 1833 the bishop's seat was officially transferred to Dax and to Dax Cathedral. Aire Cathedral remains as a co-cathedral. Dax Cathedral is a national monument of France. The Hundred Years' War (; 1337–1453) was a series of armed conflicts between the kingdoms of Kingdom of England, England and Kingdom of France, France during the Late Middle Ages.
