Davon Godchaux
Davon Montel Godchaux (born November 11, 1994) is an American football defensive tackle for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU from 2014 to 2016. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and played for the team from 2017 to 2020. High school career A native of Plaquemine, Louisiana, Godchaux attended Plaquemine Senior High School, where he was an All-State defensive lineman. He compiled 60 tackles, 22 tackles for a loss, and 4.5 sacks in his junior season in 2012, which earned him first-team All-State honors for Class 4A. In the season opener of his senior year, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, causing him to miss the rest of the season. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. 2017 NFL Draft
The 2017 NFL Draft was the 82nd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. It was held in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on April 27–29, returning to Philadelphia for the first time since 1961. 3–4 Defense
In American football, the 3–4 defense is a common defensive alignment consisting of three down linemen and four linebackers. It is a called a "base defense" because it is the default defensive alignment used on "base downs" (1st and 2nd downs). However, defenses will readily switch to other defensive alignments (such as a nickel defense or a dime defense) as circumstances change. Alternatively, some defenses use a 4–3 defense.
