Grant County, Arkansas
Grant County is a county in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Its population was 17,853 at the 2010 United States Census. The county seat is Sheridan. Grant County is included in the Little Rock–North Little Rock– Conway, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Formed on February 4, 1869, Grant County was named in honor of U.S. President-elect Ulysses S. Grant. It is an alcohol prohibition or dry county. Robert W. Glover, a Missionary Baptist pastor who served in both houses of the Arkansas General Assembly (1905-1912) from Sheridan, introduced in 1909 the resolution calling for the establishment of four state agricultural colleges. His brother, David Delano Glover, a Methodist, was a state representative in the 1907 session and a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1929 to 1935, having been unseated in 1934 by Grant County native John Little McClellan who at the time was practicing law in Camden. Van Buren County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,295. The county seat is Clinton. The county was formed on November 11, 1833, and named for Martin Van Buren, President of the United States, who was Vice President at the time of the county's formation. Van Buren County was a dry county until November 3, 2020 as the county residents voted to make it a wet county. Van Buren County should not be confused with the city of Van Buren, which is located approximately 100 miles to the west in Crawford County just north of Fort Smith. Davis Township is one of eleven townships in Fountain County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 682 and it contained 286 housing units. Geography According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 99.28%) is land and (or 0.72%) is water. It contains no incorporated settlements but four unincorporated ones. Both Maysville Crossing and Riverside lie in the northwest part of the township along the Norfolk Southern Railway line; Riverside is across the Wabash River from Independence in neighboring Warren County. Roberts is in the eastern part of the township, and Vine is near the center. There is a naturally occurring hollow in the Township known as Possum Holler. It's a ready-made weather break for those who live there and a lovely drive for those passing through. The area is rich in a wide variety of indigenous flora and fauna.
