Davis Murwendo (born 25 May 1998) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Rising Stars in the 2017–18 Logan Cup on 19 April 2018. He made his List A debut on 4 February 2020, for Rangers in the 2019–20 Pro50 Championship. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Rising Stars Cricket Team
The Rising Stars were a Zimbabwean first-class cricket team that was formed in 2017. They played their home matches at Takashinga Cricket Club, Highfield, Harare. The team was founded by Zimbabwe's former Test cricket captain Tatenda Taibu. They played in Zimbabwe's domestic cricket competitions, starting with the 2017–18 Logan Cup. In October 2017, they lost their opening first-class fixture in the Logan Cup to the Mid West Rhinos by 7 wickets. Despite the loss, Zimbabwe's former captain Brendan Taylor praised the team saying that they have some excellent bowlers and deserve their first-class status. 2017–18 Logan Cup
The 2017–18 Logan Cup was the 24th edition of the Logan Cup, a first-class cricket competition that took place in Zimbabwe. It started on 4 October 2017 and included a new team, the Rising Stars, along with the existing four teams. Mountaineers were the defending champions. In December 2017, Zimbabwe Cricket postponed all the remaining fixtures scheduled to take place in the tournament. Zimbabwe Cricket were struggling to pay players' salaries for November and December and wanted to upgrade their facilities for the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which took place in Zimbabwe in March 2018. Initially, the tournament did not resume after the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, with the final three rounds not being played. 2019–20 Pro50 Championship
The 2019–20 Pro50 Championship was the eighteenth edition of the Pro50 Championship, a List A cricket tournament that was played in Zimbabwe. It started on 4 February 2020, with five teams taking part. Mashonaland Eagles were the defending champions. On 18 March 2020, Zimbabwe Cricket suspended all forms of cricket in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 4 May 2020, Zimbabwe Cricket voided the tournament due to the pandemic with no winner being declared. Mid West Rhinos
The Mid West Rhinos is one of the four cricket Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are a first-class cricket team, based in Midlands Province and the Mashonaland West area. They play their home matches at Kwekwe Sports Club in Kwekwe. History In 2009, Zimbabwe Cricket announced a major restructure of domestic cricket in Zimbabwe and the traditional provincial sides were replaced with regional franchises. Midlands was renamed Mid West Rhinos and based in the mining town of Kwekwe. With the new franchise system in place the season got under way on 14 September 2009. Current captain Vusimuzi Sibanda was the first person to score a hundred under the new 'Mid West Rhinos' name as they convincingly beat the newly titled Matabeleland Tuskers by 135 runs. 2020–21 Logan Cup
The 2020–21 Logan Cup was the 27th edition of the Logan Cup, a first-class cricket competition in Zimbabwe, which started on 9 December 2020. After originally scheduled to start on 3 December 2020, the tournament was moved back a week to allow time to setup a bio-secure bubble. Five teams took part in the competition, including the Southern Rocks, who last played in the 2013–14 tournament. There was no defending champion, after the previous tournament was voided due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Four matches were played during December 2020. However, on 3 January 2021, Zimbabwe Cricket halted all cricket in the country following a rise in COVID-19 cases. In mid-March 2021, it was reported that the tournament would resume later that month, with the next round of matches starting on 18 March 2021.
