Davis High School (Utah)
Davis High School is a public school located in Kaysville, Utah, United States. It is operated by the Davis School District. Known as the Davis Darts, the mascot of the school is Dart Man. One of the largest and oldest high schools in the state, the school was established in 1914 and underwent reconstruction during the 2003–2004 school year. Academics In 2019, '' U.S. News & World Report'' ranked Davis as the #1 traditional high school and #4 overall high school in the state of Utah with a 98% graduation rate. In 2007, Davis High School had the highest number of AP exams taken (1,598) as well as the highest percent of AP exams passed (89.1%) in Utah. The school had a 99% graduation rate in the 2013–2014 school year. Kaysville, Utah
Kaysville is a city in Davis County, Utah. It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield metropolitan area. The population was 27,300 at the time of the 2010 census, with an estimated population of 32,390 in 2019. History Shortly after Latter Day Saint pioneers arrived in 1847, the Kaysville area, originally known as "Kay's Creek" or Kay's Ward, was settled by Hector Haight in 1850 as a farming community. He had been sent north to find feed for the stock and soon thereafter constructed a cabin and brought his family to settle the area. Farmington, Utah also claims Hector Haight as its original settler. Two miles north of Haight's original settlement, Samuel Holmes built a cabin in 1849 and was soon joined by other settlers from Salt Lake, namely Edward Phillips, John Green, and William Kay. Nolan Kay Bushnell (born February 5, 1943) is an American businessman and electrical engineer. He established Atari, Inc. and the Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre chain. Daniel Summerhays
Daniel Summerhays (born December 2, 1983) is an American professional golfer. His brother Boyd Summerhays played on the Canadian Tour as well as the PGA Tour, and is currently the coach of the PGA Tour's Tony Finau. He is the nephew of Champions Tour player Bruce Summerhays and cousin of former LPGA Tour golfer Carrie Roberts and her brothers Joe Summerhays and Bruce Summerhays Jr., who are both PGA Club Professionals. Jill Stevens (born February 28, 1983) is a Miss Utah 2007. She was chosen as Miss Southern Utah University and Miss Davis County. She is a combat medic in the Utah Army National Guard and served as a medic during an 18-month tour in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2006 supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Calvin Lewellyn "Cal" Rampton (November 6, 1913September 16, 2007) was an American attorney and politician who served as the 11th governor of the state of Utah from 1965 to 1977. Early life and education He was born to Llewellyn Smith Rampton and Janet Campbell in Bountiful, Utah. Following his graduation from Davis High School in 1931, Rampton took over his family's automobile business, due to his father's death that same year. He sold the business in 1933 and entered the University of Utah, graduating in 1936. Takuo Miyagishima (March 15, 1928 – August 4, 2011) was a Japanese-American design engineer who worked for Panavision. He was responsible for many of the company's innovations in motion picture photography and projection. In 2005, Miyagishima received the Gordon E. Sawyer Award for his achievements and successful career at the 77th Academy Awards. Early years Miyagishima was born in Gardena, California in 1928. He had one brother and two sisters. His parents had immigrated from Shizuoka in Japan. Miyagishima grew up in Long Beach and Terminal Island. Bernard Francis "Bernie" Fisher (pronounced ''Bernerd'') (January 11, 1927 – August 16, 2014) was a United States Air Force officer and a recipient of the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor. Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders were a professional American football team that played in Oakland from its founding in 1960 to 1981 and again from 1995 to 2019 before relocating to the Las Vegas metropolitan area where they now play as the Las Vegas Raiders.
