The David di Donatello Award for Best Supporting Actor ( it, David di Donatello per il migliore attore non protagonista) is a film award presented by the Accademia del Cinema Italiano (ACI, ''Academy of Italian Cinema'') to recognize the outstanding performance in a supporting role of an actor who has worked within the Italian film industry during the year preceding the ceremony. ''Sciopèn'' (also known as ''Chopin'') is a 1982 Italian comedy film directed by Luciano Odorisio. The film entered the competition at the 39th Venice Film Festival, in which it won the Silver Lion for best first work. Odorisio was awarded best new director at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, while Tino Schirinzi won a Silver Ribbon for best supporting actor. Plot In Abruzzo, in the town of Chieti, a group of friends workers, with the passion of classical music, try to rebuild a historic city orchestra, which no longer exists. The final concert provides only compositions the famous composer Frédéric Chopin, and the citizens of Chieti seem willing to finance the project. Tino Schirinzi
Tino Schirinzi (12 August 1934 – 18 August 1993), was an Italian actor and stage director. Born in Taranto, Schirinzi graduated in medicine, then he devoted himself to the theatre, often working at the Teatro Stabile in Turin and at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. He created a successful artistic partnership with Piera Degli Esposti, and took part in Italian theatrical debut of Patrice Chéreau. After 1968, he was author of irreverent reinterpretations of works by Gabriele d'Annunzio, Carlo Goldoni and of the Elizabethan theatre which resulted in a resounding firing from the Vittoriale theatre. Less active in cinema, in 1983 Schirinzi won a Nastro d'Argento for Best Supporting Actor thanks to his performance in ''Sciopèn''. Lello Arena
Raffaele "Lello" Arena (born 1 November 1953) is an Italian actor and comics writer. He was also an occasional film director and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Naples as Raffaele Arena, he was the son of two workers in a tobacco factory. In 1969, at a very young age, Arena formed the cabaret ensamble "La Smorfia" together with Massimo Troisi and Enzo Decaro. In 1978 and 1979, the group appeared in two RAI variety shows (''Non stop'' and ''Luna Park'') obtaining a great success. The group disbanded in 1980 and for some time Arena kept on collaborating with his friend Troisi, starring in his three first films. He won a David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Troisi's ''Scusate il ritardo''. Pope Pius VII ( it, Pio VII; born Barnaba Niccolò Maria Luigi Chiaramonti; 14 August 1742 – 20 August 1823), was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 14 March 1800 to his death in August 1823. Chiaramonti was also a monk of the Order of Saint Benedict in addition to being a well-known theologian and bishop. Chiaramonti was made Bishop of Tivoli in 1782, and resigned that position upon his appointment as Bishop of Imola in 1785. That same year, he was made a cardinal. In 1789, the French Revolution took place, and as a result a series of anti-clerical governments came into power in the country. Paolo Stoppa Knight Grand Cross (6 June 1906 – 1 May 1988) was an Italian actor. Biography Born in Rome, he began as a stage actor in 1927 in the theater in Rome and began acting in films in 1932. As a stage actor, his most celebrated works include those after World War II, when he met director Luchino Visconti: the two, together with Stoppa's wife, actress Rina Morelli, formed a trio whose adaptations of works by authors such as Chekhov, Shakespeare and Goldoni became highly acclaimed.
