David Y. Copeland III
David Young Copeland III (January 10, 1931 – June 5, 2019) was an American politician in the state of Tennessee. Biography Copeland served in the Tennessee House of Representatives as a Republican from the 30th District from 1968 to 1992. A native of Tampa, Florida, he was a businessman and alumnus of McKenzie Business College. Copeland served in the United States Army during the Korean War. The governor of Tennessee is the head of government of the U.S. state of Tennessee. The governor is the only official in Tennessee state government who is directly elected by the voters of the entire state. The current governor is Bill Lee, a member of the Republican Party, who took office on January 19, 2019. Qualifications The Tennessee Constitution provides that the governor must be at least 30 years old and must have lived in the state for at least seven years before being elected to the office.
