David Sutch (priest)
David Sutch (born 27 August 1947) was Archdeacon of Gibraltar from 2008 until 2013. Sutch was educated at King's College London and ordained in 1971. After a curacy at Hartcliffe he held incumbencies in Dorcan, Alveston, Yate and Cainscross. From 2007 to 2013 he was Chaplain on the Costa del Sol. The archdeacons in the Diocese in Europe are senior clergy of the Church of England Diocese in Europe. They each have responsibility over their own archdeaconry, of which there are currently seven, each of which is composed of one or more deaneries, which are composed in turn of chaplaincies (as opposed to the parishes of the mainland and Manx dioceses). They share this task with running a local church in their area, although the Diocese in Europe was (as of 2012) working towards a new system whereby there would be four full-time archdeacons instead. Yate
Yate is a town and civil parish in South Gloucestershire, England. It lies just to the southwest of the Cotswolds, Cotswold Hills and is northeast of Bristol city centre and from the centre of Bath, Somerset, Bath, with regular rail services to Bristol and Gloucester. Developing from a small village into a town from the 1950s onwards, the 2011 UK census, census listed Yate's parish population as 21,789. The market town of Chipping Sodbury (population 5,045) is contiguous with Yate to the east. Royal Army Chaplains Department
The Royal Army Chaplains' Department (RAChD) is an all-officer department that provides ordained clergy to minister to the British Army. History The Army Chaplains' Department (AChD) was formed by Royal Warrant of 23 September 1796; until then chaplains had been part of individual regiments, but not on the central establishment. Only Anglican chaplains were recruited until 1827, when Presbyterians were recognised, but not commissioned until 1858. Roman Catholic chaplains were recruited from 1836, Methodist chaplains from 1881, and Jewish chaplains from 1892. During the First World War some 4,400 Army Chaplains were recruited and 179 lost their lives on active service. The department received the "Royal" prefix in February 1919. During the Second World War another 96 British and 38 Commonwealth Army Chaplains lost their lives. Costa Del Sol
The Costa del Sol (literally "Coast of the Sun" or "Sun Coast") is a region in the south of Spain in the autonomous community of Andalusia, comprising the coastal towns and communities along the coastline of the Province of Málaga and the eastern part of Campo de Gibraltar in Cádiz. Formerly made up only of a series of small fishing settlements, today the region is a world-renowned tourist destination. The Costa del Sol is situated between two lesser known coastal regions, the Costa de la Luz and the Costa Tropical. Cainscross is a suburban town and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England, bordering the town of Stroud, Gloucestershire, Stroud and forming part of the Stroud urban area. The parish includes the communities of Ebley, Cashes Green and Cainscross, and part of Dudbridge. The population of the civil parish was 6,680 (in 2001) of which 14.6% are in the 5–14 age group. Alveston
Alveston is a village, civil parish and former royal manor in South Gloucestershire, England, inhabited in 2014 by about 3,000 people. The village lies south of Thornbury and north of Bristol. Alveston is twinned with Courville sur Eure, France. The civil parish also includes the villages of Rudgeway and Earthcott. Stone Age A scheduled Round barrow is situated next to Vattingstone Lane on the summit of the prominent hill called Alveston Down. The barrow survives as a circular flat-topped mound measuring approximately 25m in diameter and 1m high. The barrow is known in old documents by the place name 'Langeley' and is mentioned in charters as a meeting place for the Anglo-Saxon Hundred when it was re-used as a moot. Dorcan is an area in the east of Swindon, Wiltshire, England, located close to the A419 (). The population of Dorcan electoral ward taken at the 2011 census was 8,684.
