David Robert Nelson
David R. Nelson (born May 9, 1951) is an American physicist, and Arthur K. Solomon Professor of Biophysics, at Harvard University. Education and research David R. Nelson is currently thArthur K. He graduated from Cornell University ''Summa cum laude'' with a double major in physics and mathematics in 1972, and received an M.S. in Theoretical Physics in 1974, and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics in January, 1975. He was in the fourth and final class of Cornell's short-lived "Six-year Ph.D. program". He then became Junior Fellowin thHarvard Society of Fellows Since 1978 he has been a professor at Harvard University. His research is in the fields of both hard and soft theoretical condensed matter physics, and of physical biology. Stuttgart (; Swabian: ; ) is the capital and largest city of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. MacArthur Fellows Program
The MacArthur Fellows Program, also known as the MacArthur Fellowship and commonly but unofficially known as the "Genius Grant", is a prize awarded annually by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation typically to between 20 and 30 individuals, working in any field, who have shown "extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction" and are citizens or residents of the United States. According to the foundation's website, "the fellowship is not a reward for past accomplishment, but rather an investment in a person's originality, insight, and potential," but it also says such potential is "based on a track record of significant accomplishments." The current prize is $800,000 paid over five years in quarterly installments. Previously it was $625,000.
