David Raine
David Raine (born 28 March 1937) is an English former footballer who played as a full-back for Port Vale, Doncaster Rovers, Colchester United, and Burton Albion. He made 299 league appearances in a ten-year career in the English Football League, won the Fourth Division title with Port Vale in 1958–59, and was also promoted out of the Fourth Division with Colchester United in 1965–66. Career Raine graduated through the Port Vale juniors to make his debut at Vale Park in a 2–1 win over Rotherham United on 27 April 1957. He signed his first professional contract the following month, at the end of the 1956–57 season, after the "Valiants" were relegated out of the Second Division. He established himself in Norman Low's first team in the 1957–58 season, featuring in 31 Third Division South and three FA Cup games. Darlington
Darlington is a market town in the Borough of Darlington, County Durham, England. The River Skerne flows through the town; it is a tributary of the River Tees. The Tees itself flows south of the town. In the 19th century, Darlington underwent substantial industrial development, spurred by the establishment there of the world's first permanent steam-locomotive-powered passenger railway: the Stockton and Darlington Railway. Neil Franklin
Cornelius "Neil" Franklin (24 January 1922 – 9 February 1996) was an English footballer who played for Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Stockport County and Stoke City as well as the England national team. Career Stoke City Franklin was born in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent and emerged from Stoke City's nursery club Stoke Old Boys. At 15 he won schoolboy international honours as a right half and signed professional forms with Stoke in January 1939. The outbreak of World War II soon gave opportunities to Stoke's apprentices and Franklin made his senior debut at the end of 1939–40, before volunteering with the Royal Air Force in February 1941. He converted to centre back due to the absence of Billy Mould and also took his place of captain. Belle Vue (football)
Belle Vue was a football stadium in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, that served as the home ground of Doncaster Rovers from 1922 to 2007. The ground was renowned for having the biggest pitch in the United Kingdom, at long, and wide. In addition to the size of the pitch, it was considered to have one of the best playing surfaces due to the fertile soil, providing a perfect pitch. The ground was affectionately known as "Old Belle Vue" (OBV) by fans and at its peak had a total capacity of 40,000. History The ground was opened by Charles E. Bill Leivers
William Ernest Leivers (born 29 January 1932) is an English retired professional footballer and football manager. Playing career Leivers was born in Bolsover, Derbyshire. He attended school at Tupton Hall, alongside Labour MP Dennis Skinner. He began his professional career in February 1950 with Chesterfield, whom he joined as an amateur from Clay Lane Sports Club in 1948. Leivers moved to Manchester City in November 1953, for a fee of £10,500, making his debut against Preston North End in August 1954. The match saw the introduction of the a tactical system which became known as the Revie Plan. However, Leivers sustained an injury, and Manchester City lost 5–0. It was to be another five months before he made another senior appearance, and he made only three over the whole season. Oscar Hold
Oscar Hold (19 October 1918 – 11 October 2005), was an English former footballer and manager, was born in Carlton, near Leeds, England. Hold played for Everton F.C. and Norwich City F.C. He became manager of Doncaster Rovers in 1962, taking over from Danny Malloy, and also managed Turkish champion Fenerbahçe SK on (1964–65), with whom he won the Turkish League title and Atatürk Cup titles.
