David Blackwood Paul
David Blackwood Paul (1908–1965) was a New Zealand bookseller and publisher. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1908. He was married to Janet Paul and they had a publishing business together specialising in New Zealand poetry. Their publishing firm was sold to Longman in 1967, and continued publishing as Longman Paul until 1972. David Paul (March 8, 1957 – March 6, 2020) was an American actor. He and his twin brother Peter were born in Hartford, Connecticut. The death of David was confirmed by his twin brother Peter. Robert David Paul (born February 6, 1987) is an American soccer player who plays for Sporting AZ FC in the United Premier Soccer League. Career Paul played college soccer at Southern Wesleyan University from 2005 to 2008, earning all-conference honors and All-American honors every season. After college, Paul travelled to Argentina and England, earning trials with West Ham United and Milton Keynes Dons, but didn't earn a contract with either club. Returning to the US, Paul coached at Grand Canyon University for a year, before eventually earning his first professional contract with Polish club Puszcza Niepołomice in 2011. After two years in Poland, Paul returned to the US to play with USL Pro club Phoenix FC. David Paul FLS (1845–1929) was a Scottish minister and botanist who served as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1915. Life David Paul was born on 28 August 1845 in Banchory in Aberdeenshire, the son of Rev Dr William Paul DD minister of Banchory-Devenick and his wife, Jessy Stewart. The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland is the minister or elder chosen to moderate (chair) the annual General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, which is held for a week in Edinburgh every year. CenTrust Bank, A State Savings Bank was a Miami, Florida-based savings and loan. Its failure in 1990 was one of the largest and costliest failures of the savings and loan crisis. Background and downfall Dade Savings & Loan Association opened in 1934. In 1983, the failing thrift, with 32 branches and $2.2 billion in assets, was acquired by real estate developer David L. Paul for $32 million and the following year was renamed CenTrust Savings & Loan Association. It grew rapidly to become the largest thrift in the southeastern United States, with over $9 billion in assets at its peak in 1989.
