David Lowe (cricketer)
David Lowe (born 12 January 1979) is a former English cricketer. Lowe was a right-handed batsman. He was born in Harlow, Essex. Lowe made his debut for Hertfordshire in the 1999 MCCA Knockout Trophy against the Surrey Cricket Board. Lowe played Minor counties cricket for Hertfordshire from 1999 to 2001, which included 8 Minor Counties Championship matches and 5 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. In 2001, he made his List A debut against the Durham Cricket Board in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. He played 2 further List A matches for Hertfordshire, against Worcestershire in the 2nd round of the same competition and against Staffordshire in the 1st round of the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy which was held in 2001. Harlow
Harlow is a large town and local government district located in the west of Essex, England. The 2001 Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 1 May and 1 September 2001. It was the first Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy following its change of name from the NatWest Trophy, with new sponsors Cheltenham & Gloucester plc. The tournament was won by Somerset who defeated Leicesterhire by 41 runs in the final at Lord's. Format The 18 first-class counties, were joined by all twenty Minor Counties, plus Huntingdonshire. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism).
