David Gilford
David Gilford (born 14 September 1965) is an English professional golfer. Gilford was born in Crewe. In 1981, aged just 15, he won the Carris Trophy, English Boys Under-18 Open Amateur Stroke-Play Championship, at Moor Park. He won the English Amateur in 1984 and turned professional in 1986. Gilford has six wins on the European Tour, all of which came between 1991 and 1994. He finished in the top ten of the European Tour Order of Merit twice, placing 9th in 1991 and 7th in 1994. He played in the Ryder Cup in 1991 and 1995. After reaching 50, Gilford played on the European Senior Tour, playing his first event in late 2015. His best finish came in just his second event, in June 2016, when he finished third in the SSE Enterprise Wales Senior Open after a final round 64. Crewe
Crewe () is a railway town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. The Crewe built-up area had a total population of 75,556 in 2011, which also covers parts of the adjacent civil parishes of Willaston, Shavington cum Gresty and Wistaston. 1993 European Tour
The 1993 European Tour, titled as the 1993 Volvo Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 22nd official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour. The season was made up of 38 tournaments counting for the Order of Merit, and five non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won by Scotland's Colin Montgomerie for the first time, overtaking Nick Faldo with victory in the season ending Volvo Masters. Changes for 1993 There were few changes from the previous season, with the addition of the Madeira Island Open and a ProServ tournament in Bologna replacing the Volvo Open di Firenze. A new tournament was planned for South Africa but was not finalised. The cancellation of the Monte Carlo Open in February prompted rescheduling of the Irish Open to ensure there was no gap in the schedule prior to The Open Championship. 2002 European Tour
The 2002 European Tour was the 31st season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season was made up of 44 tournaments counting towards the Order of Merit, which included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, and several non-counting "Approved Special Events" including the Ryder Cup which had been postponed from 2001. The Order of Merit was won by Retief Goosen, defending the title he won in 2001. Changes for 2002 There were three new tournaments to the European Tour in 2002, the BMW Asian Open in Taiwan, the Omega Hong Kong Open and the ANZ Championship in Australia. Costantino Rocca
Costantino Rocca (born 4 December 1956) is an Italian golfer. He was long known as the most successful male golfer that Italy has produced, until the 2018 success of Francesco Molinari, who credited Rocca as an inspiration to him following his Open victory. After a long career on the European Tour, Constantino is now playing on the European Seniors Tour. He has five European Tour wins and is best known for his second-place finish in the 1995 Open Championship, and his hole in one in 1995 Ryder Cup. José María Olazábal
José María Olazábal Manterola (, ; born 5 February 1966) is a Spanish professional golfer from the Basque region who has enjoyed success on both the European Tour and the PGA Tour, and has won two major championships, both at The Masters. In 2012 he captained Europe's Ryder Cup team to a narrow victory over the US, which seemed improbable at the start of the final day's play when the Europeans trailed 10–6. They came back to win 14½–13½. Early life Olazábal was born in Hondarribia, a town in the Basque autonomous region of Spain, the day after the golf course Real Golf Club de San Sebastian opened next to his family's home. Founded in 1978, up to 1994 it was played at various courses in England, including Sunningdale and Walton Heath, except for the 1979 event, which was held at Turnberry in Scotland. Wayne Riley
Wayne Riley (born 17 September 1962) is an Australian professional golfer. Career Riley was born in Sydney. He turned professional in 1977, and started out on the PGA Tour of Australasia. He has won several tournaments in Australia and New Zealand, including the 1991 Australian Open. Riley came through the European Tour's final qualifying school in 1984, but had to wait eleven years before winning his first tournament on the tour, the 1995 Scottish Open. He played on the European Tour for almost twenty years, and won only one other tour event, the 1996 Portuguese Open. He finished a career high 11th on the Order of Merit in 1995. Juan Quirós
Juan Quirós Segura (born 25 February 1956) is a Spanish professional golfer. Quirós was born in La Linea, Andalusia. He played on the European Tour most seasons from 1983 to 2000, making the top one hundred on the Order of Merit three times. Andrew Murray (golfer)
Andrew Stephen Murray (born 30 June 1956) is an English professional golfer. Murray was born in Manchester. He turned professional in 1972 and played on the European Tour from 1979 to 1995. He retired from tournament golf after suffering from spondylitis for many years. He recorded his only win on the European Tour at the 1989 Panasonic European Open and finished the 1989 season at a career-best 28th on the Order of Merit. Jorge Alberto Berendt (born 19 July 1964) is an Argentine professional golfer. Born in Formosa, Argentina, Berendt worked as a caddie before turning professional in 1982.
