Dave Gilbert (politician)
David S. Gilbert (March 31, 1935 – July 1, 2019) was a politician in Newfoundland and Labrador. He represented Burgeo-Bay d'Espoir in the Newfoundland House of Assembly from 1985 to 1995. The son of John William Gilbert, he was born in Haystack and was educated at Memorial University. Gilbert took part in the Regular Officer Training Plan of the Royal Canadian Navy. David Gilbert (1914–1992), known to his contemporaries as "Tony", was a British political activist. He is best remembered as the head of the left-wing political organisation Liberation (formerly the Movement for Colonial Freedom) during the 1980s and 1990s. David Gilbert (15 June 1827 – date of death unknown) was an English cricketer. Gilbert's batting and bowling styles are unknown. He was born at Rotherfield, Sussex. Gilbert made his first-class debut for Sussex against Kent in 1851. He made five further first-class appearances for Sussex, the last of which came against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1857. In his six first-class matches for the county, he took 4 wickets at an average of 22.50, with best figures of 3/18. With the bat, he scored 28 runs at an average of 3.11, with a high score of 8. He also made a single first-class appearance for a combined Kent and Sussex team against an All England XI in 1853. He took figures of 3/18 from nine overs in the All England Eleven's first-innings, while in their second-innings he took 1/3 from four overs. The match ended in a draw. Dave Gilbert (cricketer)
David Robert Gilbert (born 29 December 1960) is a former Australian cricketer who played in nine Test matches and 14 One Day Internationals (ODIs) in 1985 and 1986. He played domestically for New South Wales, Gloucestershire and Tasmania. Gilbert received his chance at international cricket due to player bans as a result of rebel tours to South Africa. He performed reasonably well leading the attack, but did not attain distinction at the international level. He toured England, New Zealand and India with the Australian team. He also played 14 ODIs, taking 18 wickets at 30.66. He won the match award when he took 5 for 46 off 10 overs in Australia's victory over New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground in January 1986. He achieved greater success at first-class level, taking over 350 wickets.
