David S. Gilbert (March 31, 1935 – July 1, 2019) was a politician in Newfoundland and Labrador. He represented Burgeo-Bay d'Espoir in the Newfoundland House of Assembly from 1985 to 1995. The son of John William Gilbert, he was born in Haystack and was educated at Memorial University. Gilbert took part in the Regular Officer Training Plan of the Royal Canadian Navy. David Gilbert (15 June 1827 – date of death unknown) was an English cricketer. Gilbert's batting and bowling styles are unknown. He was born at Rotherfield, Sussex. Gilbert made his first-class debut for Sussex against Kent in 1851. He made five further first-class appearances for Sussex, the last of which came against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1857. In his six first-class matches for the county, he took 4 wickets at an average of 22.50, with best figures of 3/18. With the bat, he scored 28 runs at an average of 3.11, with a high score of 8. He also made a single first-class appearance for a combined Kent and Sussex team against an All England XI in 1853. David Robert Gilbert (born 29 December 1960) is a former Australian cricketer who played in nine Test matches and 14 One Day Internationals (ODIs) in 1985 and 1986. He played domestically for New South Wales, Gloucestershire and Tasmania. Gilbert received his chance at international cricket due to player bans as a result of rebel tours to South Africa. He performed reasonably well leading the attack, but did not attain distinction at the international level. He toured England, New Zealand and India with the Australian team. David James Gilbert (born 22 June 1963) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder from 1981 until 2009. He is currently employed as assistant manager at Lincoln United. As a player, Gilbert notably played for Grimsby Town and West Bromwich Albion. He also played in the Football League for Lincoln City, Scunthorpe United, Northampton Town and York City, as well as playing Non-League football for Boston United, Grantham Town, Spalding United and Lincoln United. Dave Gilbert (born 15 August 1961) is a former professional snooker player. Gilbert defeated Cliff Wilson on the way to the last 16 of the 1987 International Open before losing to Stephen Hendry. He reached the last 32 of both the 1988 and 1989 English professional championship losing to Dean Reynolds and Joe Johnson, respectively. He is a former World Snooker Young Player of Distinction and practises at Potters Snooker and Pool Club in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, a club which he co-owns. Having never previously been beyond the last 16 of a ranking event, Gilbert reached the final of the 2015 International Championship where he lost 5–10 to John Higgins.
