David Boothby
David J. Boothby (born 1944) is a retired Canadian police officer who served as the final chief of the Metro Toronto Police from 1995 to 1997, before the position was amalgamated into the Toronto Police Service. He served as chief until his retirement in 2000. Boothby was born in Keswick, Ontario. He joined the then Metro Toronto Police in 1964 as a beat officer and became a homicide detective in 1978. Career Prior to becoming police chief, Boothby was the unit commander or superintendent of 52 Division, the division that covered much of the downtown business and residential area from Spadina to Jarvis, the Lake to south of Summerhill. The gay community's village of Church and Wellesley was within the Division's boundaries. Julian Fantino
Julian Fantino, , ( it, Giuliano Fantino; born August 13, 1942) is a Canadian retired police official and former politician. He was the Conservative Party of Canada Member of the Parliament of Canada for the riding of Vaughan following a November 29, 2010 by-election, until his defeat in 2015. Craig Bromell
Craig Bromell (born 1959 in Oshawa) is a Canadians, Canadian radio personality and former police officer. Prior to his broadcast career, Bromell served as president of the Toronto Police Association from 1997 to 2003. In that position, he was often at odds with the two chiefs of police during his tenure, Julian Fantino and David Boothby. Previous to becoming TPA president, Bromell led a wildcat strike of officers in 51 Division. In 1996, Thomas Kerr, a homeless man, claimed that he was beaten up by nine police officers, including Bromell, in retaliation for breaking another police officer's arm in a previous encounter. A settlement was made before Bromell, now head of the Toronto Police Union, was scheduled to testify and would be subject to questioning about the event in question. The medal honours 20 years of full-time exemplary service by police officers serving with one or more recognized Canadian police forces. Medal Bar
A medal bar or medal clasp is a thin metal bar attached to the ribbon of a military decoration, civil decoration, or other medal. It most commonly indicates the campaign or operation the recipient received the award for, and multiple bars on the same medal are used to indicate that the recipient has met the criteria for receiving the medal in multiple theatres. When used in conjunction with decorations for exceptional service, such as gallantry medals, the term "and bar" means that the award has been bestowed multiple times. The Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal (french: Médaille de pompiers pour services distingués) is a service medal created in 1985 by the Canadian monarch- in-Council. The medal recognizes members of recognized Canadian fire services who had served for 20 years, ten years of which have been served in the performance of duties involving potential risks.
