David Alegre
David Alegre Biosca (born 6 September 1984) is a Spanish former field hockey player who played as a midfielder for the Spanish national team. Alegre was born in Terrassa and started playing hockey at age four at Club Egara and retired in 2021 at Real Club de Polo. He also played for the Uttar Pradesh Wizards and Oranje Zwart. His older brother Ramón was also a field hockey international for Spain. He played a total of 295 times for the Spanish national team from 2003 until 2021. Club career David played in Spain for Club Egara until 2009, when moved to the Netherlands to play for Oranje Zwart. After two seasons with Oranje Zwart, he returned to Spain to play for Real Club de Polo. He also represented the Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the Hockey India League. International career Alegre made his debut for the Spain national team in 2003 against Germany. Terrassa (, es, Tarrasa) is a city in the east central region of Catalonia, Spain, in the province of Barcelona, ''comarca'' of Vallès Occidental, of which it is the co-capital along with Sabadell. 2021 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 2021 Men's EuroHockey Championship was the 18th edition of the Men's EuroHockey Championship, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organised by the European Hockey Federation. The tournament was held alongside the women's tournament at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands and was originally scheduled to take place from 20 to 29 August 2021. However, following the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics to July and August 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled and took place from 4 to 13 June 2021. The top five teams qualified for the 2023 FIH Hockey World Cup. The hosts Netherlands won the tournament for the sixth time, beating Germany in a 4–1 penalty shoot out after a 2–2 tie. 2019 Men's FIH Olympic Qualifiers
The 2019 Men's FIH Olympic Qualifiers was the final stage of the qualification for the men's field hockey event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was held in October and November 2019. Format In the first part of the qualification, the five continental champions automatically gained an Olympic berth, where they were joined by the hosts, Japan. Originally, twelve teams were to take part in the Olympic qualifying events. These teams were to be drawn into six pairs; each pair playing a two-match, aggregate score series, and the winner of each series qualifying for the Olympics. The Men's FIH Hockey World Cup is an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was started in 1971. It is held every four years, bridging the four years between the Summer Olympics. Pakistan is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times. The Netherlands and Australia have each won three titles, and Germany has won two titles. Belgium and India have both won the tournament once. Hockey India League (HIL), known as the Coal India Hockey India League is a professional field hockey league in India. The league is organized by Hockey India, the governing body for the sport in India. HIL, along with the Indian Premier League, Indian Super League, and Pro Kabaddi League, is considered one of the major sports leagues in the country.
