Davey Lambert
David (Davey) Lambert (1969 – 6 June 2017) was an English motorcycle racer. He was from Gateshead. Career Lambert had considerable success in the Manx Grand Prix with a fourth place in the Newcomers A race in 2014. Death Lambert died of injuries sustained at the Isle of Man TT on 6 June 2017, aged 48. He had come off his 1000cc Kawasaki machine at Greeba Castle. He was making his debut at the race, having previously raced in the Manx Grand Prix with considerable success, including an 8th place in last year's Senior MGP Race. He was airlifted to Noble's Hospital before being transferred to Aintree Hospital in Merseyside. Aintree
Aintree is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside, England. Historically in Lancashire, it lies between Walton and Maghull on the A59 road, north-east of Liverpool city centre, in North West England. Gateshead
Gateshead () is a large town in northern England. It is on the River Tyne's southern bank, opposite Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle to which it is joined by seven bridges. Manx Grand Prix
The Manx Grand Prix motorcycle races are held on the Isle of Man TT Course (or 'Snaefell Mountain Course, Mountain Circuit') every year for a two-week period, usually spanning the end of August and early September. New for 2022 is a period reduction from 14 to 9 days. The MGP or Manx (as it is more commonly known) is considered to be the amateur rider's alternative and a learning experience for the Isle of Man TT races held in May/June. The event differs from the TT in that it does not cater for Sidecar TT, sidecars. A 'Classic TT' race category for historic racing machines was added in 2013 as part of the Manx Government Department of Economic Development's expansion to create what is termed ''Festival of Motorcycling''. The Isle of Man TT or Tourist Trophy races are an annual motorcycle racing event run on the Isle of Man in May/June of most years since its inaugural race in 1907. The event is often called one of the most dangerous racing events in the world as many competitors have died. Kawasaki Motorcycles
Kawasaki motorcycles are manufactured by the Motorcycle & Engine division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. History Kawasaki Aircraft initially manufactured motorcycles under the Meguro name, having bought an ailing motorcycle manufacturer, Meguro Manufacturing with whom they had been in partnership. This eventually became Kawasaki Motor Sales. Some early motorcycles display an emblem with "Kawasaki Aircraft" on the fuel tank. During 1962, Kawasaki engineers were developing a four-stroke engine for small cars. Then some of the engineers transferred to the Meguro factory to work on the Meguro K1 and the SG, a single cylinder 250 cc OHV. Greeba Castle
Greeba Castle is a castle on the Isle of Man. Etymology The name is derived from Scandinavian: Gnipa, ''a peak''. Location The castle is situated in the parish of German (but close to the boundary with Marown) on the main A1 Peel Road in the Isle of Man. It is about 1 km east of the hamlet of Greeba and 3 km east of the village of St Johns.
