Dave Smith (ice Hockey)
David Smith (born November 21, 1968) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of the NCAA RPI Engineers men's ice hockey team, a position he has held since the 2017–18 season. Smith was a member of the 1992–93 Turner Cup champions, the Fort Wayne Komets. Coaching career In 1998, following a six-year professional minor league career, Smith joined the coaching staff of the Miami RedHawks men's ice hockey team as an assistant. He also served as an assistant coach with Bowling Green State University, and Mercyhurst University, before being hired on April 15, 2005 as the head coach at Canisius College Canisius College is a private Jesuit college in Buffalo, New York. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Ohio State Buckeyes Men's Ice Hockey
The Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that represents Ohio State University. The Buckeyes are a member of the Big Ten Conference. They play at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. History The Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey program began in 1963, the team played at the new Ohio State Ice Rink, constructed in 1961. The Buckeyes were a founding member of the CCHA in 1971. The Buckeyes won the inaugural 1972 CCHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament with a 3–0 win over Saint Louis University. Turner Cup
The Turner Cup was the championship trophy of the International Hockey League from 1945 to 2001 and the renamed United Hockey League from 2007 to 2010. The Cup was named for Joe Turner, a goaltender from Windsor, Ontario. Turner became professional with the Detroit Red Wings organization, and played one season with the Indianapolis Capitals in the American Hockey League. Turner was killed in Belgium during World War II, while serving with the United States Army. Atlantic Hockey
The Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) is an NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey conference which operates primarily in the northeastern United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I as an ice hockey-only conference. Unlike several other college athletic conferences, Atlantic Hockey has no women's division, though it shares some organizational and administrative roles (and two universities) with the women's-only College Hockey America. It was formed in 1997 and began play in the 1998–1999 season as the hockey division of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Within three years, it was granted an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. However, in 2003, Iona and Fairfield dropped hockey, leaving Canisius as the only full MAAC member that sponsored hockey. The 2013 Atlantic Hockey Tournament is the 10th Atlantic Hockey Tournament. It will be played between March 8 and March 23, 2013 at campus locations and at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York, United States.
