Dave Silvestri
David Joseph Silvestri (born September 29, 1967) is a former infielder in Major League Baseball from 1992 to 1999. He also played for the United States baseball team at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Playing career Silvestri attended the University of Missouri, where he played for the Missouri Tigers baseball team. He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the second round of the 1988 Major League Baseball draft. That year, he played internationally for the United States baseball team in the 1988 Baseball World Cup, where he batted .333/.407/.542 with 10 runs as the club's shortstop. He won a silver medal with the team. He also played in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, winning a gold medal. Before the 1990 season, Silvestri was traded with a player to be named later to the New York Yankees for infielder Orlando Miller. Baseball at the 1987 Pan American Games was contested between teams representing Aruba, Canada, Cuba, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, United States, and Venezuela. New York–Penn League
The New York–Penn League (NYPL) was a Minor League Baseball league that operated in the northeastern United States from 1939 to 2020. Classified as a Class A Short Season league, its season started in June, after major-league teams signed their amateur draft picks to professional contracts, and ended in early September. In 2019, its last season of operation, the NYPL had 14 teams from eight different states. In addition to New York and Pennsylvania, from which the league drew its name, the NYPL also had clubs in Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Vermont, West Virginia, and Connecticut. The Brooklyn Cyclones were the last NYPL champions, defeating the Lowell Spinners, two games to one, in 2019. Orlando Miller
Orlando Miller Salmon (born January 13, 1969), is a former professional baseball player who played in Major League Baseball primarily as a shortstop from 1994–97. Career Orlando Miller got his pro career started in the minor leagues in 1991. Miller saw playing time with both the Jackson Generals of the class double "A" Texas League and with the Osceola Astros of the class "A" Florida State League in 1991. Miller returned to Jackson in 1992, moving up to triple "A" with the Tucson Toros of the Pacific Coast League later in the season. Miller played for the Toros once again in 1993 before his big break into the major leagues with the Houston Astros in 1994. He played for the Astros for two more seasons, then finished his MLB career with the Detroit Tigers in 1997. In Major League Baseball, a player to be named later (PTBNL) is an unnamed player involved in exchange or "trade" of players between teams. The terms of a trade are not finalized until a later date, most often following the conclusion of the season. Postponing a trade's final conditions or terms is often done for several reasons. First, the team receiving the PTBNL might not be certain which position they want to fill, so this type of deal gives them more time to figure it out. Second, this type of arrangement gives the team receiving the PTBNL more time to evaluate the available talent on the other team.
