Data Panik
Data Panik (stylized as data Panik) were a Scottish rock band—Steven Clark (Sci-fi Steven), John Clark (John Disco), Amanda MacKinnon (Manda Rin) (all formerly of bis at the time), Stuart Memo (of Multiplies) and Graham Christie (ex Kenickie tour drummer). Their debut single, "Cubis (I Love You)" backed with "Sense Not Sense" was released on limited edition 7-inch and download in June 2005. In October 2005, data Panik became the first band in the UK to have a dedicated mobile i-mode website. April 2006 saw the release of a split 7-inch single on Must Destroy Records with fellow Scots :( (pronounced colon open bracket). The data Panik track "Control The Radical" is featured. The group recorded three songs for XFM Scotland ("Minimum Wage", "Retail of the Details" and "Do The Static") which were played on-air the evening of Wednesday 7 June 2006. Rock Band
A rock band or pop band is a small musical ensemble that performs rock music, pop music, or a related genre. A four-piece band is the most common configuration in rock and pop music. In the early years, the configuration was typically two guitarists (a lead guitarist and a rhythm guitarist, with one of them singing lead vocals), a bassist, and a drummer (e.g. the Beatles and KISS). John Disco
John Clark (born 21 August 1978, better known as John Disco) is a Scottish record producer, sound engineer and songwriter. He started out his career as a member of the band Bis, and has worked in the recording studio with Fangs, Franz Ferdinand, Stevie Jackson, Linus Loves and Mylo. Career Bands In 1994 Disco, Steven Clark (Sci-fi Steven) and Amanda MacKinnon (Manda Rin) formed the band bis in Glasgow, Scotland. His roles in the group included guitar, vocals, synthesisers, bass guitar and programming. In March 1996, bis released their third EP, " The Secret Vampire Soundtrack" on the Chemikal Underground label, which charted at number 25 in the UK Single Chart. bis toured extensively from 1996–2000, and achieved strong fan bases in Japan, US and Australia. Manda Rin
Manda Rin (real name Amanda MacKinnon, born 22 March 1977) is a Scottish singer, artist and songwriter. She is the singer and keyboard player of the Scottish indie rock band Bis, later fronted the Kitchen and also released a solo album. She also co-hosted a radio show on BBC Scotland called ''Air''. Rin was the only person ever to appear in two of the line up rounds on ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks''. Her first appearance was never shown: one of the contestants on the programme was Russell Brand who, shortly after taping, became embroiled in a tabloid row after leaving messages on the answerphone of Andrew Sachs for his radio programme, resulting in Brand being banned from the BBC. Bis (Scottish Band)
Bis ( ) (stylised as bis) are a Scottish indie pop band composed of Steven Clark (Sci-Fi Steven), John Clark (John Disco), and Amanda MacKinnon (Manda Rin), formed in 1994. The band's name, rhyming with 'this', derives from "black iron skyline", a lyric from the song "Twilight of a Champion" by The The. After releasing numerous cult EPs and three studio albums (1997's ''The New Transistor Heroes'', 1999's ''Social Dancing'', and 2001's '' Return To Central'') the band broke up in 2003, but re-formed briefly in 2007 for a series of concerts. In 2009 they once again re-formed (adding a bass player and a drummer to the band lineup) and released the album ''data Panik etcetera'' in 2014. Kenickie
Kenickie were an English four-piece pop punk band from Sunderland. The band was formed in 1994 and consisted of lead vocalist, guitarist and lyricist Lauren Laverne (b. Lauren Gofton), drummer Johnny X (real name Pete Gofton, Lauren's brother), lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist Marie du Santiago (b. Anne Marie Nixon) and bass guitarist Emmy-Kate Montrose (b. Emma Jackson). The band's name comes from their favourite character in the film '' Grease''. I-mode
NTT DoCoMo's i-mode is a mobile internet (distinct from wireless internet) service popular in Japan. Unlike Wireless Application Protocols, i-mode encompasses a wider variety of internet standards, including web access, e-mail, and the packet-switched network that delivers the data. i-mode users also have access to other various services such as: sports results, weather forecasts, games, financial services, and ticket booking. Content is provided by specialised services, typically from the mobile carrier, which allows them to have tighter control over billing. Nation Radio Scotland (formerly ''XFM Scotland (2014), 96.3 Rock Radio'' ''Real XS,'' ''Q96'' and ''96.3QFM'') is a Scottish independent local radio station for Renfrewshire, Glasgow and West Central Scotland, owned by Nation Broadcasting. ''Data Panik Etcetera'' (stylised as ''data Panik etcetera'') is the fourth studio album by the Scotland, Scottish pop group Bis (Scottish band), Bis, released in 2014. The album was the group's first since the band broke up in 2003.
