Darwha
Darwha is a town and a municipal council in Yavatmal district in the state of Maharashtra, India. History Locals believe Rango Bapuji Gupte, a freedom fighter had lived incognito in the town. The town is also famous for 'Golibar Chowk', square where British soldiers supposedly open fired on an unarmed gathering. If one looks for the history of Darwha city, it was one of the big market places during the period of 1800 AD to 1900 AD for peanut oil and cotton, there were about 8 nos. ginning and about 200 "Tel Ghanies" were there. During the era of "Satvahan", Darwha was well known market place for cattle, dairy products and cotton and cotton seeds. Yavatmal ( is a city and municipal council in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the administrative headquarters of Yavatmal District. Yavatmal is around 90 km away from divisional headquarters Amravati while it is away from the state capital Mumbai. The name is derived from the Marathi ''Yavat'' (mountain) and ''mal'' (row). Rango Bapuji Gupte
Rango Bāpuji Gupte (??? – Missing 5 July 1857) born into a marathi "Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu" family was an Indian diplomat, freedom fighter, and a revolutionary. The rulers at Satara were one of the last independent branches of the Maratha Empire. After the British dissolved the state in 1839, ruler Pratapsinh sent Rango Bapuji Gupte to England to defend the case in front of the British Parliament. He stayed there for 14 years without much success. After returning to India, he became "one of the masterminds behind the 1857 revolt", known as the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He met Nanasaheb Peshwe and Tatya Tope and started building armed organizations in Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Belgaon. However, when his plan was exposed, many of the fighters he had recruited were killed and Gupte went underground.
