Darren Kimura
Darren T. Kimura (born September 10, 1974, Hilo, Hawaii) is an American businessman, inventor, and investor. He is best known as the inventor of Micro Concentrated solar power (CSP) technology otherwise known as MicroCSP. Life Kimura was born to Japanese American parents in Hilo, Hawaii and graduated from Waiakea High School. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America), Eagle Scout as a member in the Boy Scouts of America. He studied Computer Science and Business Management at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He later attended Portland State University, studying Electrical Engineering and Stanford University studying Computer Science. During the 2009 flu pandemic, ''Newsweek'' covered Darren's challenges in finding Tamiflu for his wife Kelly due to hoarding. Hilo, Hawaii
Hilo () is a census-designated place (CDP) and the largest settlement in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States, which encompasses the Island of Hawaii. The population was 44,186 according to the 2020 census. It is the fourth-largest settlement in the state of Hawaii and largest settlement in the state outside of Oahu. Hilo is the county seat of the County of Hawaii and is in the District of South Hilo. ''MidWeek'' is a weekly United States tabloid shopper and advertisement periodical published in Honolulu, Hawaii and distributed throughout the Islands of Oahu and Kauai. It is owned by Black Press and is a sister publication of the ''Honolulu Star-Advertiser''. History The shopper started in 1984 to provide advertisers with an alternative way to reach more customers. Publisher Ken Berry helped secure deals with Safeway and Pay ‘n Save to advertise with the fledgling publication. Berry sought out cover stories and columnists that would increase readership. Holaniku At Keahole Point
Holaniku at Keahole Point is a 2 MW micro-scaled concentrated solar power plant in the Kona District (west coast) of the island of Hawaii. It is located in the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii at Keahole Point. Holaniku at Keahole Point is the first commercial solar thermal power plant to be built using solar collectors manufactured by Sopogy. The project was developed by Keahole Solar Power, LLC. an Engineering, Procurement, and Contracting ( EPC) company. The plant contains over 1,000 Sopogy MicroCSP SopoNova parabolic trough solar collectors. The power plant uses the sun's heat to create steam. Most of the steam created is used onsite for other experimental uses, equating to only 0.5MW maximum that can be utilized to generate electricity.
