Darrell Hill (athlete)
Darrell Hill (born August 17, 1993) is an American track and field athlete known for the shot put. On July 1, 2016, at the 2016 Olympic Trials, Hill threw a new personal best of to finish third and qualify for the 2016 Olympics. His previous personal best of 21.16m was set just two weeks earlier at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. Hill's father was able to watch his son in the Olympics after a crowdfunding campaign was started by a passenger whom he met while driving for Uber. Professional Hill, sponsored by Nike, trained with USOC coach Art Venegas through 2017. Venegas is widely regarded as one of the best shot put coaches in the world, and is the only one to have athletes reach 73' with both the glide and rotational techniques. From 2018, Hill is coached by Gregory Garza based at San Diego State University through April 2020. Hanžeković Memorial
Hanžeković Memorial ( hr, Hanžekovićev memorijal) is an athletics event at the Sportski Park Mladost athletic stadium in Zagreb, Croatia as part of the IAAF World Challenge Meetings. It was first organized in 1951. ''Hanžek'' (which is the popular name of meeting) was first held in 1951 as a local level meeting. Seven years later, in 1958, it became an international competition. From 1999 to 2009 the IAAF classified the Hanžeković Memorial among IAAF Grand Prix meetings and it gained IAAF World Challenge meeting status upon the inauguration of that series in 2010. The meeting got its name in memory of renowned Zagreb runner Boris Hanžeković. Born on 10 November 1916, Hanžeković graduated law in Zagreb, but became known for winning races in different disciplines; he was the junior state champion in 100 and 200 meter races multiple times, in the 110 m hurdles and in both 4 x 100 metres relay and 4 x 400 metres relay. The Match Europe v USA was an international two-day outdoor track and field competition between the United States and Europe. It took place 9–10 September 2019 in Minsk, Belarus, three weeks prior to the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, a few days after the conclusion of the 2019 Diamond League and three months after the 2019 European Games. Team Europe won the Match, defeating Team USA by 724½ to 601½. Creation of the Match The match was agreed between European Athletics and USA Track & Field in December 2018 and marked the first international match between the two since the 1960s. The Memorial Van Damme is an annual athletics event at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, that takes place in late August or early September. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now the final event of the Diamond League, along with Weltklasse Zürich. It was first organized in 1977 by a group of journalists in honour of Ivo Van Damme, a Belgian double medal winner at the Montreal Olympics who was killed the previous year in a car accident at the age of 22.
