Darlow is an unincorporated community in Lincoln Township, Reno County, Kansas, United States. It is located several miles west of Yoder along Red Rock Road. History Darlow was a station on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Darlow had a post office from 1890 until 1935, but it was called Booth until 1900. Yoder, Kansas
Yoder is an unincorporated community in Reno County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 165. It is located approximately 10 miles southeast of the city of Hutchinson on K-96. Although Yoder is unincorporated, with no city government, it does have a U.S. Post Office and its own ZIP code (67585). Yoder is the hub of a local Amish community. History The community derives its name from its Amish founder, Valentine Yoder. The first post office in Yoder was established in November 1889. The community was home to the former Naval Air Station Hutchinson, later renamed to Hutchinson Air Force Station, and currently named as Sunflower Aerodrome Gliderport. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway , often referred to as the Santa Fe or AT&SF, was one of the larger railroads in the United States. The railroad was chartered in February 1859 to serve the cities of Atchison, Kansas, Atchison and Topeka, Kansas, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. The railroad reached the Kansas–Colorado border in 1873 and Pueblo, Colorado, in 1876. To create a demand for its services, the railroad set up real estate offices and sold farmland from the land grants that it was awarded by United States Congress, Congress. Despite being chartered to serve the city, the railroad chose to bypass Santa Fe, due to the engineering challenges of the mountainous terrain. Eventually Santa Fe Southern Railway, a branch line from Lamy, New Mexico, brought the Santa Fe railroad to its namesake city.
