Dark Universe (film)
''Dark Universe'' is a 1993 horror/science-fiction film starring Blake Pickett, Cherie Scott, Bently Title, John Maynard, Paul Austin Saunders, Patrick Moran, Tom Ferguson, Steve Barkett, and Joe Estevez as Rod Kendrick. The soundtrack was composed by Jeffrey Walton. The film was written by Moran, executive-produced by Fred Olen Ray, Grant Austin Waldman, and Jim Wynorski, and directed by Steve Latshaw. Plot While on board the space ship ''Nautilus'', an astronaut turns into an Alien-like monster after being infected by alien spores. When the ship crash lands in Florida, the monster goes on a killing rampage. Production According to Stephen Latshaw the film was shot in ten days for $40,000 and was "a huge hit for Curb Entertainment... it took in over $400,000 in world wide sales." Fred Olen Ray (born September 10, 1954) is an American film producer, director, and screenwriter of more than 200 low-to-medium-budget feature films in many genres, including Horror film, horror, science fiction, action film, action/adventure film, adventure, erotic thrillers, crime dramas, and holiday films. Ray is the head of Retromedia, which releases DVDs of both his own productions and archival films. He has also worked for other well-known independent studios and on a few occasions for major Hollywood studios. He has been cited as an inspiration for many independent filmmakers. Jim Wynorski (born August 14, 1950) is an American screenwriter, film director, director, and film producer, producer. Joseph Estévez (born February 13, 1946) is an American actor and director. He is the younger brother of actor Martin Sheen and the uncle of Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Renée Estevez, and Ramon Estevez. Life and career Early life Estevez was born in Dayton, Ohio to a Catholic, Galician (Spanish) father, Francisco Estévez (1898–1974), and an Irish mother, Mary Anne (née Phelan) (1903–1951).
