Dark Castle Entertainment
Dark Castle Entertainment is an American film production label and a division of Silver Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, It was formed in 1998 by Joel Silver, Robert Zemeckis, and Gilbert Adler. Susan Downey was the Vice President of Development until February 2009, a term running congruent to her tenure as a VP of Production at parent company Silver Pictures. Dark Castle Entertainment's name pays homage to William Castle, a horror filmmaker from the 1950s and 1960s. When first formed, the goal was to remake Castle's horror films. After two remakes, it moved on to producing original material, along with remakes of non-Castle films. Starting with '' RocknRolla'', the company began producing films in genres other than horror. While most of the company's films were initially poorly reviewed by critics, their 2009 film '' Splice'' eventually received better reviews. Joel Silver
Joel Silver (born July 14, 1952) is an American film producer. Life and career Silver was born and raised in South Orange, New Jersey, the son of a writer and a public relations executive. His family is Jewish. He attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. During his time there, Silver, Buzzy Hellring and Jonny Hines created the rules for what he called "Ultimate Frisbee". He was later inducted into the USA Ultimate Hall of Fame as a result of this. He finished his undergraduate studies at the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Silver began his career at Lawrence Gordon Productions, where he eventually became president of motion pictures for the company. ''Ghost Ship'' is a 2002 American supernatural horror film directed by Steve Beck, and starring an ensemble cast featuring Gabriel Byrne, Julianna Margulies, Ron Eldard, Desmond Harrington, Isaiah Washington and Karl Urban. The film follows a marine salvage crew in the Bering Sea who discover a mysterious ocean liner that disappeared in 1962. Despite its title, the film is unrelated to the 1952 film of the same name. William Malone (director)
William Malone (born 1947) is an American horror filmmaker who directed several movies such as the 1999 remake ''House on Haunted Hill'', '' Scared to Death'', '' Creature'', and ''FeardotCom''. After a brief career in makeup and costumes, he attended UCLA film school and moved on as a director thereafter. History Malone was born in 1947 in Lansing, Michigan where, during high school, he played in a Beatles-inspired garage band called The Plagues. The band released several 45 rpm singles on their own label Quarantined Records and on Fenton Records, an independent record label (affiliated with now defunct Great Lakes Studios, in Sparta, MI).
