Daring Club De Bruxelles
Royal Daring Club Molenbeek was a football team from the city of Brussels, Belgium until 1973. It was created in 1895 as Daring Club de Bruxelles and was the second club to register to the Belgian Football Association (it thus received the ''matricule'' n°2), but it was admitted to the league only in 1903. History Daring Brussels were formed in 1895 and after absorbing other local clubs in 1920 they became Royal Daring Club Molenbeek. It had to wait until 1936 to come back at the top and win its fourth championship, and the fifth came a year later. In 1938, it finished 2nd. The next season saw a poor performance by Daring to finish 13th (forelast). The club was relegated just before the competition was stopped because of World War II. The team changed its name to Royal Daring Club de Bruxelles in 1950. Belgian Second Division
The Belgian Second Division (known as the Proximus League for sponsorship reasons) was the second-highest division in the Belgian football league system, one level below the Belgian Pro League. It was founded by the Royal Belgian Football Association in 1909 and folded in 2016, when it was replaced by the Belgian First Division B. History The second division was created in 1909 and was known as the Promotion nl, bevordering at the time. From 1923 on there were two leagues in that division (called Promotion A and Promotion B). In 1926, the system changed, with only one league of 14 clubs at the second-highest level now called Division I. The Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, sometimes referred to as the European Fairs Cup, Fairs Cities' Cup, or simply as the Fairs Cup, was a European football competition played between 1955 and 1971. It is often considered the predecessor to the UEFA Cup (now the UEFA Europa League). The competition was the idea of FIFA vice-president and executive committee member Ernst Thommen, Italian Football Federation president and FIFA executive committee member Ottorino Barassi, and the English Football Association general secretary and president of FIFA from 1961 to 1974, Stanley Rous. As the name suggests, the competition was set up to promote international trade fairs. Friendly games were regularly held between teams from cities holding trade fairs and it was from these games that the competition evolved.
