Daniel Alsina Leal
Daniel Alsina Leal (born 10 May 1988) is a Spanish chess Grandmaster (since 2010). Biography In 2000–2005 Daniel Alsina Leal represented Spain several times at the World and European Youth Chess Championships in various age group. He was also a multiple medalist of the Catalan Youth Chess Championship and won the Spanish Junior Chess Championship under 18 years in 2006. In 2005, Daniel Alsina Leal won the International Chess Tournament in Vila de Sant Boi. In 2007, he shared the second place in the International Chess Tournament ''de Sants, Hostafrancs and La Bordeta'' in Barcelona. In 2009 in Barcelona, Daniel Alsina Leal achieved his best individual result in chess career, won alone this tournament, being the only player without the title of grandmaster, ahead of in the final classification among others Alexey Dreev, Pavel Tregubov and Ulf Andersson. The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams representing nations of the world compete. FIDE organises the tournament and selects the host nation. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, FIDE held an Online Chess Olympiad in 2020 and 2021, with a rapid time control that affected players' online ratings. The use of the name "Chess Olympiad" for FIDE's team championship is of historical origin and implies no connection with the Olympic Games. Birth of the Olympiad The first Olympiad was unofficial. For the 1924 Olympics an attempt was made to include chess in the Olympic Games but this failed because of problems with distinguishing between amateur and professional players. Khanty-Mansiysk ( rus, Ха́нты-Манси́йск, Khánty-Mansíysk, lit. 39th Chess Olympiad
The 39th Chess Olympiad (russian: 39-я Шахматная олимпиада, ''39-ya Shakhmatnaya olimpiada''), organised by FIDE and comprising an open and a women's tournament, as well as several other events designed to promote the game of chess, took place from September 19 to October 4, 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. There were 148 teams in the open event and 115 in the women's event. In total, 1306 players were registered. This was the fourth time Russia organized the Chess Olympiad after 12th Chess Olympiad, 1956 (Soviet Union), 31st Chess Olympiad, 1994, and 33rd Chess Olympiad, 1998. Six cities had submitted bids to organize the Olympiad: Khanty-Mansiysk, Budva, Buenos Aires, Poznań, Riga, and Tallinn. Ulf Andersson (born 27 June 1951) is a leading Swedish chess player. FIDE awarded him the International Master title in 1970 and the Grandmaster title in 1972. Career At his peak, Andersson reached number four on the FIDE rating list. Pavel Tregubov
Pavel Vladimirovich Tregubov (russian: Па́вел Влади́мирович Трегу́бов; born 21 December 1971) is a Russian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 1994. Tregubov was European champion in 2000. He is one of the founders of the Association of Chess Professionals (ACP), for which he is currently the ACP Tour director. Tregubov previously served as president, treasurer and board director. Career Tregubov won the Corsica Masters tournament in 1997. In 1999 he tied for first place with Simen Agdestein and Mikhail Gurevich in the Cappelle-la-Grande Open. Alexey Dreev
Alexey Sergeyevich Dreev (, also transliterated as Aleksey or Alexei; born 30 January 1969) is a Russian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 1989. Career While being a promising young chess talent, he was for a period coached by the world-class chess trainer Mark Dvoretsky. Dreev was world under 16 champion in 1983 and 1984, and the European junior champion in 1988. In 1989 he became a grandmaster, won a strong tournament at Moscow (+5 =5 −1) and made his first appearance in the Russian Chess Championship.
