Daniel Alexander Jones
Daniel Alexander Jones (born 1970) is an American performance artist, playwright, director, essayist and educator. Birth Jones was born on February 9, 1970, to Georgina Leslie Jones and Arthur Leroy Jones at Wesson Women's Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. Education He studied at Classical High School and became a member of the first graduating class of Springfield Central High School in 1987. Daniel attended Vassar College, graduating with a degree in Africana Studies in 1991. He then pursued graduate study at Brown University, completing a master's degree in theatre in 1993. At Brown he studied with both John Emigh and Aishah Rahman. Career Daniel Alexander Jones has created, to date, sixteen fully produced works of theatre and performance art, since beginning his professional career in 1994. John Emigh
John Emigh (born 3 September 1941) is Professor Emeritus from the Departments of Theatre, Speech and Dance and of English at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. Emigh taught at Brown from 1967 to 2009. Since his retirement, he has mainly been teaching and directing in the Brown/Trinity Rep MFA program. Biography John Emigh was born in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in Connecticut. In his New Britain high school, he was a saxophonist in the school band, treasurer of numerous clubs, and planned on going to law school with the goal of going into politics. He entered Amherst College, became interested in theater arts, and took a year off to travel to Spain and Morocco to study and translate plays by Federico García Lorca. He received his BA from Amherst in English and Dramatic Arts in 1964 and went on to graduate school at Tulane University in New Orleans. Aishah Rahman (November 4, 1936 – December 29, 2014) was an American playwright, author, professor and essayist. She was known for her participation and contribution to the Black Arts Movement, as well as her plays documenting various aspects of black life.
