Danger Island, Great Chagos Bank
Danger Island is the westernmost and the southernmost island of the Great Chagos Bank, which is the world's largest coral atoll structure, located in the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. Description It is a 2 km (1.24 m) long and flat island with a maximum width of , covered with tall coconut trees. Its name in all likelihood derives from the lack of a safe anchorage, which rendered every visit to this island dangerous for the ship and crew. The closest land is Sea Cow Island, the southernmost of the Eagle Islands which lies to the NNE. History There was never a permanent settlement on Danger Island, even at the time that the Chagos were inhabited (between the mid-18th and mid-20th centuries). However, occasionally plantation workers from other islands would be brought to this island to collect coconuts. In 1975 there was an expedition to Danger Island by the Joint Services (JSDI). The expedition members were taken by RFA Resurgent to Eagle Islands and then by ketch an ...

The traditional name for the atoll is ''Te Ulu-o-Te-Watu'' ('the head of the stone'), and the northern islet where the people normally reside is affectionately known as Wale ('Home'). Geography Pukapuka is shaped like a three bladed fan. There are three islets on the roughly triangular reef, with a total land area of approximately . Motu Kō, the biggest island is to the southeast; Motu Kotawa (Frigatebird Island) is to the southwest; and the main island Wale is to the north. Kō and Motu Kotawa are uninhabited food reserves, with taro and pulaka gardens and coconut plantations. Pukapuka Airport (ICAO airport code: NCPK) is on Kō. The three villages are located on ...

Danger Islands
The Danger Islands is a group of small islands lying east-south-east of Joinville Island near the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. They were discovered on 28 December 1842 by a British expedition under James Clark Ross, who so named them because, appearing among heavy fragments of ice, they were almost completely concealed until the ship was nearly upon them. The Danger Islands comprise: *Beagle Island (Antarctica), Beagle Island *Darwin Island (Antarctica), Darwin Island *Earle Island *Heroína Island *Peine Island *Plato Island Use by birds The Danger Islands have been identified as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International because it supports Adélie penguin colonies and seabirds. 751,527 pairs of Adélie penguins (1.5 million individuals) have been recorded in at least five distinct colonies as of March 2018. ''Danger Island'' is a live-action adventure serial produced by Hanna-Barbera and originally broadcast in 1968–69 as a segment of ''The Banana Splits Adventure Hour''.
