Danger Island (serial)
''Danger Island'' (1931) is a Universal pre-Code film serial. It is considered to be lost. Kenneth Harlan played Captain Drake (the hero), and Lucile Brown played heroine Bonnie Adams. The film also co-starred Andy Devine. Plot Bonnie Adams is told by her father Professor Adams on his death bed of his discovery of a radium deposit on an island off the coast of Africa. Ben Arnold and his girlfriend Aileen Chandos want the radium for themselves and befriend Bonnie for that purpose. The captain of the boat taking them to their destination, Harry Drake, falls in love with Bonnie en route. Ray Taylor (director)
Raymond Edgar Taylor (1 December 1888 – 15 February 1952) was an American film director. He directed 159 films between 1926 in film, 1926 and 1949 in film, 1949. His List of directorial debuts, debut was the 1926 film serial ''Fighting with Buffalo Bill''. Ray Taylor was one of the few Hollywood directors who specialized in a single type of film: he was an action specialist. Many action directors would be called upon at one time or another to helm a mainstream drama, romance, or mystery, but Ray Taylor established himself early in westerns and action fare, and he worked in this capacity throughout his career. Even a brief tenure directing the campus-capers "Collegians" shorts for Universal Pictures, Universal was appropriate for Taylor, as these two-reel subjects often emphasized visual action. ''Battling with Buffalo Bill'' is a 1931 American pre-Code Western serial film directed by Ray Taylor and starring Tom Tyler, Lucile Browne, William Desmond, Rex Bell, and Francis Ford. Based on the book ''The Great West That Was'' by William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody, the film is about a cowboy named Buffalo Bill who goes up against a shady gambler who is attempting to scare off the townspeople so he can gain possession of a gold strike. When a nearby Indian tribe is provoked into attacking the town, the cavalry rides in to the rescue. Cody's book was also used as the inspiration for the studio's highly successful 1930 serial ''The Indians Are Coming''.
