Dancon
Dancon, an abbreviation of Danish Contingent, is the term that comprises all Denmark, Danish national forces in a current military mission of the UN, NATO, or national character. Dancon is not a military unit per se, like a brigade, but rather an organisation in which all Military organization#Units, Formations & Commands, military units currently working in a mission are linked together. The commander of Dancon is usually the commander of the hierarchically biggest military unit associated with the specified mission, and does not have a headquarters of its own, but rather it is that military unit's headquarters. Because several Dancons can exist at the same time, the mission name is usually added to Dancon, like Dancon/Irak or Dancon/SFOR. * Dancon/UNFICYP (early 1964 – 1993) * Dancon/UNPROFOR (April 1992 – October 1995) * Dancon/IFOR (December 1995 – December 1996) * Dancon/SFOR (December 1996 – August 2003) * Dancon/Albanien (May 1997 - August 1997) * Dancon/AFOR (June ...

Dancon/Irak
Dancon/Irak (short for ''Danish Contingent/Irak'') was a Danish ground contingent deployed to Iraq from June 2003 to July 2007. History Dancon's units were subordinate to Multi-National Division (South East) ("MND (SE)"), which is responsible for the southern provinces of Al Basrah, Maysan, Dhi Qar and Al Muthanna in Iraq. MND (SE) is a British-run division containing units from several other European nations. Dancon arrived in Kuwait on 2 June 2003, and reached its Area of Responsibility (AOR) in Iraq on 6 June 2003. After an initial setup phase, Dancon/Irak took official charge of its AOR on 12 June 2003 during a ceremonial reception in CIMIC-house, Al-Qurna, from the British Joint NBC Regiment. The formation was initially 380 personnel, and 42 more were added in July/August 2003. By February 2005, the contingent consisted of approximately 545 soldiers. Danish troops were rotated every six months, and each contingent had a slightly different composition of units and men. B ...
