Dan Needles
Dan Needles is best known as the playwright behind the popular Wingfield Series, which has played across Canada for many years. It was performed at the Stratford Festival of Canada, Mirvish Productions Toronto and was aired, in part, on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Bravo Channel. Biography Dan was born in Toronto July 27th 1951 in Toronto Ontario, to Dorothy-Jane Needles (broadcaster and writer) and George William Needles (Stratford Festival stage actor and Veteran). Raised partly in the city and the country. His mother moved the family out of the city each spring to a hobby farm near Rosemont, Ontario where he and his siblings tended to a herd of Jersey cows and worked on the neighbouring farms of the 7th Line. After high school, Dan worked for a year milking cows and chasing sheep in the backcountry of Australia. Wingfield Series
''The Wingfield Cycle'' is a Canadian series of seven one-man plays - ''Letter from Wingfield Farm'', ''Wingfield's Progress'', ''Wingfield's Folly'', ''Wingfield Unbound'', ''Wingfield on Ice'', ''Wingfield's Inferno'' and ''Wingfield Lost and Found'' - written by Dan Needles, directed by Douglas Beattie and performed by Rod Beattie. They tell the story of Walt Wingfield, a stockbroker-turned-farmer living near the fictional small town Larkspur, Ontario in Persephone Township and his various misadventures while trying to make a living in the agriculture business. The plays progress as a series of letters written by Walt to his friend, the editor of the Larkspur newspaper. The Stratford Festival is a theatre festival which runs from April to October in the city of Stratford, Ontario, Canada. CTV Drama Channel (formerly known as Bravo) is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by Bell Media. The channel was founded as the Canadian version of the U.S. channel Bravo (which is now owned by NBCUniversal) on January 1, 1995 by Moses Znaimer and its owner CHUM Limited, and originally focused on performing arts, drama, and independent film.
