Dakkada Football Club (formerly Akwa Starlets Football Club) is a Nigerian football club. They currently play in the Nigerian Professional Football League after they gained promotion from the Nigeria National League on 22 July 2019. Dakkada FC is located in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. Their home stadium is the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. In 2019, they won a promotion to play in the 2019–2020 season of the Nigerian tier-1 club competition, the Nigerian Professional Football League. Their qualification makes the Niger Delta state of Akwa Ibom the only state government currently sponsoring two clubs in the premier club competition, aside from the neighboring Abia state. 2020–21 Nigeria Professional Football League
The 2020–21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) was the 50th season of the top flight league in the Nigeria football league system and the 31st since its rebranding. The league started on 27 December 2020 after much delay and concluded on 5 August 2021. Enyimba were the defending champions from the 2019 season but failed to defend their title after finishing third on the table. The season was initially scheduled to commence on 6 December 2020 but after much delay, the League Management Company announced that the league would start on 27 December 2020 with all matches played behind closed doors. Afeez Awakan born (22 June 1993) is a first-team player of Dakkada FC. He is a utility player who can play as a defensive midfielder and winger. Personal life Awakan is a native of Ogun, Nigeria. Club career Awakan started his football career at FC Ebiede in 2011. He made a name for himself while playing for Akwa United. On 15 November 2015, Awakan scored the only goal against Lobi Stars in the final matchday of the 2014–15 season, at the Nest of Champions to help Akwa United maintain their top-flight status. On 22 November 2015, Awakan won the Nigeria FA Cup with Akwa United. His goal alongside Namdo Edo's strike earned the Uyo club a 2–1 win over Lobi Stars in the final at Teslim Balogun Stadium. Godswill Akpabio International Stadium
The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium (formerly Akwa Ibom International Stadium) is an all-seater national sports stadium located in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom. The stadium serves as a home to the Nigerian Super Eagles as well as a center for various social, cultural, and religious events. The contract for the construction of the Akwa Ibom International Stadium complex and Games Village was awarded in 2012 to Julius Berger and was completed in 2014. The 30,000 seater ultra modern multipurpose sports complex was modeled after Allianz Arena. Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel renamed Akwa Ibom Stadium as ''Godswill Obot Akpabio International Stadium'', immediately following his inauguration ceremony on May 29, 2015 in the stadium. The Nigerian National League (formerly known as ''National Division 1'') is the second tier of club football in Nigeria. The Niger Delta is the delta of the Niger River sitting directly on the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria.
