Daimler L14
The Daimler L14 was a two-seat, high-wing, monoplane fighter built in 1919. It was built as a two-person, aerodynamically improved version of the Daimler L11 aircraft. It was powered by the Daimler D.IIIb water-cooled V-8 engine and was armed with two machine guns, one forward and one rearward firing. One prototype was built. Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft
Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (abbreviated as DMG, also known as ''Daimler Motors Corporation'') was a German engineering company and later automobile manufacturer, in operation from 1890 until 1926. Founded by Gottlieb Daimler (1834–1900) and Wilhelm Maybach (1846–1929), it was based first in Cannstatt (today Bad Cannstatt, a city district of Stuttgart). Daimler died in 1900, and their business moved in 1903 to Stuttgart-Untertürkheim after the original factory was destroyed by fire, and again to Berlin in 1922. Other factories were located in Marienfelde (near Berlin) and Sindelfingen (next to Stuttgart). Hans George Klemm (born August 21, 1957) is an American diplomat who served as the United States Ambassador to Romania from September 21, 2015, to December 2019. Previously he also served as the United States ambassador to East Timor from June 12, 2007, to May 25, 2010. Klemm graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Economics and History, and from Stanford University with an M.A in International Development Policy. He joined the United States Foreign Service in 1981 and was promoted into the Senior Foreign Service in 2001. The Daimler L11 was a German single-seat, parasol-wing, monoplane fighter built during the First World War for the Imperial German Air Service (). A single prototype was built in 1918, but the war ended before it could be accepted for service. The two-seat Daimler L14 was based on this aircraft. A monoplane is a fixed-wing aircraft configuration with a single mainplane, in contrast to a biplane or other types of multiplanes, which have multiple planes.
