Dagon Stars United Football Club ( my, ဒဂုံဘောလုံးအသင်း) is a Burmese football club based in Dagon Township, Yangon and founded in 2009. Dagon FC plays in MNL-2 since 2009. In 2015 MNL-2 season, they did not promote to Myanmar National League. Dagon
Dagon ( he, דָּגוֹן, ''Dāgōn'') or Dagan ( sux, 2= dda-gan, ; phn, 𐤃𐤂𐤍, Dāgān) was a god worshipped in ancient Syria across the middle of the Euphrates, with primary temples located in Tuttul and Terqa, though many attestations of his cult come from cities such as Mari and Emar as well. In settlements situated in the upper Euphrates area he was regarded as the "father of gods" similar to Mesopotamian Enlil or Hurrian Kumarbi, as well as a lord of the land, a god of prosperity, and a source of royal legitimacy. A large number of theophoric names, both masculine and feminine, attests that he was a popular deity. He was also worshiped further east, in Mesopotamia, where many rulers regarded him as the god capable of granting them kingship over the western areas. Myanmar National League
The MPT Myanmar National League ( my, မြန်မာ နေရှင်နယ် လိဂ်; abbreviated MNL) is the premier national professional football league of Myanmar. In 2009, the league replaced the Myanmar Premier League, which consisted only of 14 Yangon-based football clubs, with eight professional clubs representing different regions across the nation. On 16 May 2009, the league launched its inaugural two-month tournament, the Myanmar National League Cup 2009 in preparation for the first full season in 2010. Despite its national ambitions, the league held the MNL Cup 2009 matches in the country's two main stadiums in Yangon due to the lack of adequate facilities elsewhere. General Aung San Shield
General Aung San Shield (formerly ''MFF Cup'') is the top football knockout tournament in Myanmar. On 26 March 2014, MFF League Committee Meeting decides the knock-out cup (General Aung San Shield) winner would compete in ''Toyota Mekong Championship'' as well as earning the ticket for the AFC Cup. (in Burmese) The tournament is currently sponsored by Military of Defence. Ayeyawady United are the most successful team after winning the tournament for the two consecutive times in 2012 and 2014. General Aung San Shield is a domestic cup of Myanmar Football Federation. 2022 MNL-2
The 2022 National League 2, also known as the 2022 MPT Myanmar National League 2, is the 10th season of the MNL-2, the second division league for association football clubs since its founding in 2012. It has been decided to hold the MNL2 tournament with a total of seven teams. In the league includes the MFF's youth teams and five other clubs. Silver Stars and Mawlamyine City will not be participating in the MNL-2 this season. Clubs It is decided that the MNL-2 will be played with seven teams. The teams include Dagon Star United, Junior Lions, Young Boys, Kachin United, University, Yaw Myay, Mawyawadi and Kachin United. Due to financial issues and budget cuts, University will not be promoted to the 2023 Myanmar National League.
