Dagny Norvoll Sandvik (born 23 July 1990), known mononymously as Dagny, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She is known for her breakthrough single "Backbeat" (2016), EP ''Ultraviolet'' (2016) and debut studio album '' Strangers / Lovers'' (2020). Her songs have released to critical acclaim, with "Somebody" winning the P3 Gull 2020 Song of the Year. She has amassed over 450 million streams on Spotify to date. Her music is pop-based, incorporating elements of indie, dance, synth, electro and disco. Early life Dagny was born and raised in Tromsø in northern Norway. ''P3 Gull'' (in en, "P3 Gold"), is a music show and an award ceremony organized by the Norwegian radio station NRK P3. P3 Gold was first held on 29 November 2013 at Sentrum Scene in Oslo. Øystein Norvoll
Øystein Norvoll (born 26 June 1954 in Tromsø, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (guitar), who early was interested in and a winner of the "Gjett på Jazz" (1973). He is married to the vocalist Marit Sandvik and they gave birth to the artist Dagny Norvoll Sandvik (b. 1990). Career Norvoll was early inspired by the West Coast jazz guitarists Barney Kessel and Jim Hall. Marit Sandvik
Marit Sandvik (born 19 July 1956 in Harstad, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz singer. Her husband is guitarist Øystein Norvoll and their daughter is the artist Dagny Norvoll Sandvik. Career Sandvik has participated in numerous vocal and jazz groups in Harstad, Trondheim and Tromsø. In 1993 Sandvik established the sextet "Bossa Nordpå" including Helge Sveen, Henning Gravrok, Øystein Norvoll, Oddmund Finnseth and Finn Sletten. In 1997, she established the "Norvoll/Sandvik Duo" together with her husbond guitarist Øystein Norvoll, and was a part of the vocal quartet "Plagiacci", which in 1998 set up the Hasse&Tage revue ''Spader, Madam!''. The rest of the album was later released on 2 October 2020, along with ''Side A''. Critical reception Upon its release, the album was critically acclaimed.
