The Daytona 300, currently known for sponsorship reasons as the Beef. It's What's for Dinner. 300, is the first race of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season, held at Daytona International Speedway. It is held the day before the Daytona 500, and is considered the most prestigious event of the Xfinity Series. Until 2002, it was the only event of the Xfinity Series to be annually held at Daytona International Speedway. Austin Hill won the most recent race, in 2022. History The race originates from races held at the Daytona Beach Road Course during the 1948 NASCAR Modified series season, the first sanctioned races held by the organization. 2013 DRIVE4COPD 300
The 2013 DRIVE4COPD 300 was a NASCAR Nationwide Series race held on February 23, 2013 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. It was the first race of the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series season. The race was the 32nd running of the event, and the pole position given to Roush Fenway Racing's Trevor Bayne with a lap speed of , while Tony Stewart of Richard Childress Racing won the race. Daytona International Speedway
Daytona International Speedway is a race track in Daytona Beach, Florida, United States. Since opening in 1959, it has been the home of the Daytona 500, the most prestigious race in NASCAR as well as its season opening event. In addition to NASCAR, the track also hosts races of Automobile Racing Club of America, ARCA, AMA Superbike, International Motor Sports Association, IMSA, SCCA, and Motocross. Motor Trend 500
The Winston Western 500 was an annual NASCAR Winston Cup race held at Riverside International Raceway in Riverside, California, United States, in January, and then in later years, November. From 1963 to 1981, the race was held in January and was the season opening race. NASCAR elected to start its season with the Daytona 500 beginning in 1982, so a second Winston Western 500 was run in November to accommodate the change; the change resulted in Riverside hosting three Winston Cup races in 1981. The race ran in November from 1981 to 1987, serving as the Winston Cup Series' final race of the year from 1981 to 1986. Austin Dillon
Austin Reed Dillon (born April 27, 1990) is an American professional stock car racing driver and reality TV show actor. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Richard Childress Racing. He is the grandson of RCR team owner Richard Childress, the older brother of Ty Dillon who also competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, and the son of Mike Dillon, a former racing driver who currently works as RCR's general manager. Michael W. Annett (born June 23, 1986) is an American retired professional stock car racing driver. He last competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports. Mercury is a defunct division of the American automobile manufacturer Ford Motor Company. Created in 1938 by Edsel Ford, Mercury served as the medium-price brand of Ford for nearly its entire existence, bridging the price gap between the Ford and Lincoln model lines. Marion Cox
Marion "Preacher" Cox (October 2, 1920 – October 13, 1996) was a NASCAR Grand National Series car owner. He would serve more than two years in World War II. Career Cox provided a vehicle for now-retired NASCAR Grand National series driver Roy Bentley in four races that would take place in the 1955 and 1956 seasons. Darrell Waltrip, Richard Childress, and Cale Yarborough have raced for Cox (in the lesser known series of NASCAR) and have become three of the biggest names in the NASCAR Cup Series. Childress went on to own Richard Childress Racing while Waltrip became an announcer for ''Fox NASCAR''. Even though Yarborough had his championship wins record broken by Jimmie Johnson (in 2009) after defending it since 1978, he is still notable for being employed under Cox. Darrell Lee Waltrip (born February 5, 1947) is an American motorsports analyst, author, former national television broadcaster, and stock car driver. Don MacTavish
Donald Charles MacTavish (August 22, 1940 – February 22, 1969) was an American race car driver. He died in an accident at Daytona International Speedway. Biography MacTavish was born in Dover, Massachusetts, and started his racing career at the age of 15 at the Norwood Arena in nearby Norwood. He quickly earned popularity for driving demolition derby cars, and appeared on ABC's '' Wide World of Sports''. He competed in more than 100 Sportsman Car Series races on the East Coast. In 1963, he progressed to NASCAR's Sportsman Division and in 1966 he won the NASCAR National Sportsman Division Championship, a precursor to today's Xfinity Series, by beating out Ralph Earnhardt among others. The Big One is a phrase describing any crash usually involving five or more cars in NASCAR, ARCA, and IndyCar racing. It is most commonly used at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, although occasionally seen at other tracks as well, such as Dover International Speedway and Watkins Glen International.
