Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) (Korean: 대구경북과학기술원) is a public science and engineering university located in Daegu Technopolis, Daegu, South Korea. Kuk Young
Kuk Young is a South Korean physicist, former physics professor and vice-provost of research of Seoul National University, distinguished professor of Ewha Womans University, and chairman of the Samsung Science and Technology Foundation. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, Korean Academy of Science and Technology, Institute of Physics, Korean Physical Society, and Korean Vacuum Society (). Shin Sung-chul
Shin Sung-chul (; born July 19, 1952) is a South Korean physicist and the 16th president of KAIST. Shin was the first president of DGIST since it changed its form from a research institute to a university in 2011. His main research areas as a scientist are spintronics and nanomagnetism. Daegu (, , literally 'large hill', 대구광역시), formerly spelled Taegu and officially known as the Daegu Metropolitan City, is a city in South Korea. The Institute for Basic Science (IBS; ) is a Korean government-funded research institute that conducts basic science research and relevant pure basic research.
