Dục Mỹ Camp
Dục Mỹ Camp is a former Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) base northwest of Nha Trang in Khánh Hòa Province, south central Vietnam. History The base, located approximately 50 km northwest of Nha Trang, was used by the French Army in the 1950s as a training camp for the Groupement de Commandos Mixtes Aéroportés (GCMA). By 1957 it was the cantonment for the ARVN 15th Light Division. In 1961 it became a training center for ARVN rangers and artillery units. Duc My was home to the ARVN Ranger training centre and artillery school. Vietnamese Rangers
The Vietnamese Rangers ( vi, Biệt Động Quân), commonly known as the ARVN Rangers, were the light infantry of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. Trained and assisted by American Special Forces and Ranger advisers, the Vietnamese Rangers infiltrated beyond enemy lines in search and destroy missions. Initially trained as a counter-insurgency light infantry force by removing the fourth company each of the existing infantry battalions, they later expanded into a swing force capable of conventional as well as counter-insurgency operations, and were relied on to retake captured regions. Later during Vietnamization the Civilian Irregular Defense Group program was transferred from MACV and integrated as Border Battalions responsible for manning remote outposts in the Central Highlands. The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN; ; french: Armée de la république du Viêt Nam) composed the ground forces of the Republic of Vietnam Military Forces, South Vietnamese military from its inception in 1955 to the Fall of Saigon in April 1975. Nha Trang
Nha Trang ( or ; ) is a coastal city and capital of Khánh Hòa Province, on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. It is bounded on the north by Ninh Hòa District, Ninh Hoà town, on the south by Cam Ranh city and on the west by Diên Khánh District.
