Dəstəfur
Dəstəfur (also, Dastafyur, Dəstətur, Dostafur, Dastaphour, Dastaphor and Dostafyur) is a village and municipality in the Dashkasan Rayon of Azerbaijan. It has a population of 572. Between 1930 and 2 April 1956, Dashkasan Region was known as the ''Dastafurski Rayon'' (Dəstəfur Rayon) Monuments On the east of the village, over the Ganja River, is a historic stone bridge thought to date from the later 13th century. A list of Azerbaijan's ancient monuments also states that the village has a bronze age burial mound (''kurgan'') In a pastoral valley accessible only on foot, are the reasonably intact walls of a ruined 15th-century church, described in Azerbaijani texts as an ''Albanian Temple'' (Albanian refers here to Caucasian Albania Caucasian Albania is a modern exonym for a former state located in ancient times in the Caucasus: mostly in what is now Azerbaijan (where both of its capitals were located). Dashkasan Rayon
Dashkasan District ( az, Daşkəsən rayonu) is one of the 66 Administrative divisions of Azerbaijan, districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the west of the country and belongs to the Ganja-Dashkasan Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Goygol District, Goygol, Kalbajar District, Kalbajar, Gadabay District, Gadabay, Shamkir District, Shamkir, and the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia. Its capital and largest city is Daşkəsən, Dashkasan. As of 2020, the district had a population of 35,400. History The district was established on 8 August 1930 and was known as ''Dastafur'' ( az, Dəstəfur) until 1956, when it was changed to Dashkasan. The capital was established as an urban facility on March 16, 1948, after the end of World War I, mainly to explore and mine iron ore and other natural resources.
