Stadtmitte (meaning: ''city centre'') is an urban quarter in the central Borough 1 of Düsseldorf, Germany. Stadtmitte borders with Carlstadt, Pempelfort, Oberbilk and the old town of Düsseldorf: Düsseldorf-Altstadt. Stadtmitte has an area of , and 14,654 inhabitants (2020). Borough 1 (Düsseldorf)
Borough 1 () is the central borough of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and the city's commercial and cultural center. The borough covers an area of 11.31 square kilometres and (as of December 2020) has about 86,000 inhabitants. Despite being one of Düsseldorf's smallest boroughs by area, Stadtbezirk 1 includes several distinct quarters: the city's Medieval Altstadt is known as an entertainment district with plenty of Altbier pubs and bars, while the adjacent Baroque-style Carlstadt has a very Bohemian character. Stadtmitte is the city's shopping and central business district, extending into the three Gründerzeit quarters of Pempelfort, Derendorf and Golzheim - the latter three also being popular as both business locations and residential areas. Pempelfort
Pempelfort is a city part in the North-east of the central Borough 1 of Düsseldorf. It borders on Stadtmitte, Derendorf, the Cologne–Duisburg railway, connecting Flingern and Düsseltal, Oberbilk, Golzheim and the river Rhine. Pempelfort has 33,137 inhabitants (2020) in an area of 2.70 km2, or over 12,000 inhabitants per km2. Some important institutions such as the District Administration / Prefecture of Düsseldorf (Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf) and the Higher Court of Düsseldorf (Oberlandesgericht) are located in Pempelfort. The head offices of the energy company E.ON and the Victoria Insurance company are also in Pempelfort. Oberbilk
Oberbilk is an inner-city urban quarter in the south-east of the German city of Düsseldorf. The back exit of the Central Station leads to Oberbilk. The new District Court of Düsseldorf is located in Oberbilk since 2010, as is the main office of the Communal Library of Düsseldorf. Oberbilk is also home to the Mitsubishi Electric Halle, a concert arena with a capacity for 7,500. Oberbilk has a high population density, with 31,179 people (2020) living in just 3.94 km2. 36.6% are non-German, which is higher than the 23.6% found in Düsseldorf as a whole. Traditionally Oberbilk was a working class borough containing heavy industry. This changed in the 1980s and, following restructuring, employment is now dominated by the third sector. Schadowstraße
Schadowstraße is a shopping street in Düsseldorf, Germany, located in the districts of Stadtmitte and Pempelfort. The street cuts through downtown Düsseldorf, starting at Königsallee, passing the Tausendfüßler and reaching up to Berliner Allee. Schadowstraße is named after the German Romantic painter Wilhelm von Schadow. The Western section towards Königsallee is a pedestrian zone and has some landmark buildings, such as the ''Schadow Arkaden'', a shopping mall designed by German architect Walter Brune in 1994, and the ''Peek & Cloppenburg'' flagship store, designed by American architect Richard Meier in 2001. Dreischeibenhaus
The Dreischeibenhaus (also known as the Dreischeibenhochhaus) is a 95-metre office building in August-Thyssen-Straße in the Hofgarten district of the Düsseldorf city centre. It was also known as the Thyssenhaus or Thyssen-Hochhaus owing to its former use as the headquarters of the Thyssen and ThyssenKrupp groups. It is among the most significant examples of post-war modernist International style and a symbol of the so-called Wirtschaftswunder, or 'economic miracle' of post-war Germany, and contrasts with the neighbouring Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus on Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz.
