''Dédié à toi'' is a French studio album released by Dalida in 1979. Background In this album, Dalida sings once more Jacques Brel's "Quand on n'a que l'amour". She also memorializes her late lover Luigi Tenco through a cover of one of his masterpieces, "Vedrai vedrai". It includes her hit " Monday, Tuesday... Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti (; 17 January 1933 – 3 May 1987), professionally known as Dalida, was an Italian-French singer and actress born in Egypt. She sang in eleven languages and sold millions of records internationally. Carrere Records (french: Disques Carrère, link=no, ) was a French record label which specialized in Euro disco and rock music. The record company was sold to Warner Music Group in the early 1990s. Early days Claude Carrere started working with Annie Chancel in 1962 and renamed her Sheila, who remained his sole artist for a while. He set up Carrere Productions and the records were distributed by Philips Records. In the late 1960s, he created Disques Carrere. In 1972, he produced and distributed his own releases. "Salma Ya Salama" ( arz, سالمة يا سلامة) is an Egyptian Folk song by Dalida from 1976. The track became one of the singer's biggest hits and over the years has sold 4 million units on disc. It was among the first Ethnic fusion hits in the world, recorded in five languages (Egyptian Arabic, French, German, and Italian: ''"Uomo di sabbia"'' and Spanish). Gigi in Paradisco is a bilingual French and English-language album released in 1980 by Italian and French singer Dalida. Two singles were released, both of which received gold certifications. Background This album was launched after a highly successful American-style series of shows that Dalida performed at the Palais des Sports theatre in France. She was the first female singer to perform this kind of show at the venue with twelve costume changes and eleven dancers. All the show's 18 nights were sell-outs. The album, like the show, was highly successful and it was a critical and commercial success. It also helped Dalida to create more of a sexy and Diva like image. Luigi Tenco (21 March 1938 – 27 January 1967) was an Italian singer-songwriter. Biography Tenco was born in Cassine (province of Alessandria) in 1938, the son of Teresa Zoccola and Giuseppe Tenco. He never knew his father, who died in unclear circumstances. It has been rumored that Luigi Tenco was the fruit of the extramarital relationship of his mother and the sixteen-year-old son of the wealthy family for whom she worked at the time. He has been described as "a sort of Italian Charles Aznavour". Tenco spent his childhood in Cassine and Ricaldone until 1948, when he moved to Liguria, first to Nervi and then to Genoa, where his mother had a wine shop called ''Enos'' in the quarter of La Foce. Description It topped the French chart in 1979, and had considerable success throughout Europe. The song was written by Toto Cutugno who offered it to Dalida and himself recorded it in Italian, under the title "Voglio l'Anima". Dalida recorded the song in three languages; French, Spanish; "Dejame Bailar", and English; "Let Me Dance Tonight".
