DynoVoice
DynoVoice Records was an American record label, founded in 1965 by songwriter/producer Bob Crewe. The label started as Dyno-Vox, but was changed when the 5th single was issued. DynoVoice, along with its NewVoice Records subsidiary, was originally distributed by Bell Records, and later by Dot Records. The label existed until 1969 when it was merged into the Crewe Group of Companies (CGC) label. Some of the label's best-known releases include The Bob Crewe Generation's hit " Music to Watch Girls By", the soundtrack album for Dino de Laurentiis's camp sci-fi film '' Barbarella'', and material by Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. Maggie Thrett
Maggie Thrett (born Diane Pine; November 18, 1946 – December 18, 2022) was an American actress and singer. Biography At age 15, she made her off-Broadway debut in 1962 in ''Out Brief Candle''. By the age of 18, she was regularly performing as a dancer at Trude Heller's in Greenwich Village, New York, as observed in the January 1965 edition of ''Harper's Bazaar''. As a vocalist, Thrett recorded a single (under her birth name) entitled "Lucky Girl" for Take 3 Records in 1964, and had a minor US hit (as Maggie Thrett) in 1965 with "Soupy", produced by Bob Crewe and issued on the DynoVoice (formerly Dyno-Vox) label. ''Billboard'' journalist Aaron Sternfield, reviewing a live performance at Basin Street East, New York, on July 15, 1965, wrote that she "has a magnificent range, her phrasing and timing are near perfect, and she blends the right combination of sex and satire." Robert Stanley Crewe (November 12, 1930 – September 11, 2014) was an American songwriter, dancer, singer, manager, and record producer. He was known for producing, and co-writing with Bob Gaudio, a string of Top 10 singles for the Four Seasons. As a songwriter, his most successful songs include "Silhouettes" (co-written with Frank Slay); "Big Girls Don't Cry", " Walk Like a Man", " Rag Doll", " Silence Is Golden", "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore)", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and " Bye, Bye, Baby" (all co-written with Gaudio); "Let's Hang On!" Eddie Rambeau
Eddie Rambeau (born Edward Cletus Fluri; June 30, 1943) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Career While performing in a high-school musical he had written, Rambeau met songwriter and musician Bud Rehak, who went on to become his manager. With Rehak playing the piano, Rambeau sang at record hops and the like, where he impressed deejays with his talent. One of the deejays, Jim Ward from Plymouth, Pennsylvania, set up an audition for Rambeau at Swan Records. He was signed to the label and released his first single, "Skin Divin'", under his new name, Eddie Rambeau, on graduation day in June 1961. The Toys were an American pop girl group from Jamaica, New York, which was formed in 1961 and disbanded in 1968. Bell Records (1950s-70s)
Bell Records was an American record label founded in 1952 in New York City by Arthur Shimkin, the owner of the children's record label Golden Records, and initially a unit of Pocket Books, after the rights to the name were acquired from Benny Bell who used the Bell name to issue risque novelty records. A British branch was also active in the 1960s and 1970s. Bell Records was shut down in late 1974, and its assets were transferred to Columbia Pictures' new label, Arista Records. 1950s At its inception in 1952, Bell specialized in budget generic pop music, with the slogan "music for the millions". Originally sold on seven-inch 78rpm and 45rpm records for 39 cents (US), this style of music went out of fashion as rock and roll became more prevalent. Dot Records
Dot Records was an American record label founded by Randy Wood (record producer), Randy Wood and Gene Nobles that was active between 1950 and 1978. The original headquarters of Dot Records were in Gallatin, Tennessee. In 1956, the company moved to Hollywood, California. In its early years, Dot specialized in artists from Tennessee. Then it branched out to include musicians from across the U.S. It recorded country music, rhythm and blues, polkas, waltzes, Gospel music, gospel, rockabilly, pop music, pop, and early rock and roll. After moving to Hollywood, Dot Records bought many recordings by small local independent labels and issued them nationally. The Chicago Loop was an American rock group from Chicago, Illinois, United States. The group, formed in 1966, consisted of Bob Slawson (vocals), Judy Novy (vocals), John Savanna, alternate touring (guitar), Barry Goldberg (piano), Carmine Riale (bass), and John Siomos (drums). In 1966, they released the single, "(When She Needs Good Lovin') She Comes to Me" b/w "This Must Be the Place" on DynoVoice Records. Some of the pressings of the single had an alternate title, "(When She Wants Good Lovin') My Baby Comes to Me".
