Farnham
Farnham ( /ˈfɑːnəm/) is a market town and civil parish in Surrey, England, around southwest of London. It is in the Borough of Waverley, close to the county border with Hampshire. The town is on the north branch of the River Wey, a tributary of the Thames, and is at the western end of the North Downs. The civil parish, which includes the villages of Badshot Lea, Hale and Wrecclesham, covers and had a population of 39,488 in 2011. Among the prehistoric artefacts from the area is a woolly mammoth tusk, excavated in Badshot Lea at the start of the 21st century. The earliest evidence of human activity is from the Neolithic and, during the Roman period, tile making took place close to the town centre. The name "Farnham" is of Saxon origin and is generally agreed to mean "meadow where ferns grow". Brecon
Brecon (; cy, Aberhonddu; ), archaically known as Brecknock, is a market town in Powys, mid Wales. In 1841, it had a population of 5,701. The population in 2001 was 7,901, increasing to 8,250 at the 2011 census. Historically it was the county town of Brecknockshire (Breconshire); although its role as such was eclipsed with the formation of the County of Powys, it remains an important local centre. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order". Nicholas Copeman
Vice Admiral Sir Nicholas Alfred Copeman, (28 February 1906 – 21 November 1969) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Commander-in-Chief, South Atlantic and South America Station from 1960 to 1963. Naval career Copeman served in the Second World War and was deployed to Norway 1940. In 1948 he was appointed deputy director of Torpedo, Mining and Anti-Submarine Warfare at the Admiralty. He went on to be captain in charge of the 2nd Minesweeping Flotilla in 1950 and joined the Admiralty Interview Board in 1952. He was made Commanding Officer of the torpedo school in 1953 and commander of the 4th Destroyer Squadron in 1955. He became Vice Controller of the Navy in 1956 and Fourth Sea Lord in 1958. Vice Admiral Sir William Geoffrey Arthur Robson, (10 March 1902 – 25 December 1989) was a Royal Navy officer whose last Service appointment was Commander-in-Chief, South Atlantic. Naval career Educated at the Royal Naval College, Osborne, and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Robson joined the Royal Navy as a cadet in 1915 during the First World War and served as a midshipman on the battleship . Vice Admiral Sir (Arthur) Gordon (Voules) Hubback KBE CB (11 September 1902 – 25 August 1970) was a Royal Navy officer who went on to be Fourth Sea Lord. Early life Gordon Hubback was born on 11 September 1902 to Margaret Rose Frances (Daisy) Voules and Arthur Benison Hubback who was working as an architect in Malaya. He was educated at the Royal Naval College, Osborne, and then at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. He was appointed captain on 15 May 1916. Naval career Hubback served in World War II at the Plans Division at the Admiralty where he helped plan the Norwegian campaign. After serving in various ships from 1940, he was appointed Commanding Officer of HMS ''Gregale'' in March 1943. Admiral Sir Frederick Robertson Parham, GBE, KCB, DSO (9 January 1901 – 20 March 1991) was a Royal Navy officer who went on to be Commander-in-Chief, The Nore. Naval career Educated at the Royal Naval College, Osborne, and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Parham joined the Royal Navy as a cadet in 1913. He served in World War I as a midshipman on HMS ''Malaya''. In 1937 he was given command of HMS ''Shikari''.
