''Dweep'' is a puzzle game published in 1999 by Dexterity Software. Gameplay Dweep is a purple creature who must negotiate a series of dangerous obstacles to rescue defenseless baby Dweeps. Obstacles include lasers, heat plates, bombs, and lots of other hazards. Dweep must bypass these using only available non-violent tools such as mirrors, wrenches, and buckets of water. The non-violent, mentally challenging nature of the game was a deliberate design feature. The game package contains 30 original game levels plus one secret bonus level. ''Dweep Gold'' also includes five free bonus levels and two expansion packs (20 levels each), as well as a number of custom levels. Dexterity Software
Dexterity Software was a computer game company founded in 1994 in Los Angeles by Steve Pavlina. It began as a traditional retail game developer, but later changed to a shareware model. In 2004, Dexterity Software relocated to Las Vegas. The company ceased operations in late 2006. The Shareware Industry Awards were a series of awards issued annually by the Shareware Industry Awards Foundation during the Software Industry Conference. Origin of the Shareware Industry Award The Software Industry Conference website notes: "The Shareware Industry Awards were conceived by Michael Callahan aka Dr. File Finder at the time of the first shareware conference – as a means to focus attention on the shareware industry. Michael felt that while the conference would help shareware authors in general, an awards ceremony "like the Academy Awards" would benefit the shareware industry as a whole. In 2010, Callahan pleaded guilty to embezzling $167,000 from the Shareware Industry Awards Foundation. Arkanoid
is a 1986 block breaker arcade game developed and published by Taito. In North America, it was published by Romstar. Controlling a paddle-like craft known as the Vaus, the player is tasked with clearing a formation of colorful blocks by deflecting a ball towards it without letting the ball leave the bottom edge of the playfield. Some blocks contain power-ups that have various effects, such as increasing the length of the Vaus, creating several additional balls, or turning the Vaus into a laser cannon. Other blocks may be indestructible or require multiple hits to break. Created by Taito designers Akira Fujita and Hiroshi Tsujino, ''Arkanoid'' expanded on the concept established in Atari's '' Breakout'', a successful game in its own right that was met with a large wave of similar clone games from other manufacturers. Steve Pavlina
Steve Pavlina (born April 14, 1971) is an American self-help author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur. He is the author of the web site stevepavlina.com and the book ''Personal Development for Smart People''. Background Steve was born and raised in Los Angeles, the eldest of four kids. During his childhood, Steve went to a private Jesuit high school. On January 27, 1991 Pavlina was arrested for grand theft in Sacramento, California and given 60 hours of community service. He claims that this was the impetus he needed to turn his life around, he also claims that he was let off a much worse sentence owing to a mistake in the legal process.
