Dvergsøya
Dvergsøya is an island in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The island lies in the archipelago in the Kristiansandsfjorden to the southeast of the city of Kristiansand. The island is used as a recreational area and it has wharfs for visiting boats as well as toilet facilities. Dvergsøya is only accessible by boat. Dvergsøya is best known as the island where the Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and Crown Princess Mette-Marit spend their annual summer vacation with their children. However, the island's fairly dramatic history is less known. History Dvergsøya was originally a smallholding under the mainland farm ''Dvergsnes''. The island was historically used for farming. Witch Maren was a smallholders wife from Dvergsøya. She was arrested on 20 April 1670 in connection with the sinking of a ship bound for Jutland. Odderøya
Odderøya is an island and neighborhoods in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The island lies immediately to the south of the city centre of Kristiansand and it is connected to the mainland by four bridges. The island creates a natural division between the eastern and western parts of the port of Kristiansand. Gravanekanalen canal separates Odderøya from the city center and the fish wharf ('' Fiskebrygga''). Prior to 1993, the island was owned by the Norwegian government and it was used as a naval base and training grounds, but since that time, the municipality of Kristiansand has taken over and is now using it for recreational purposes. The island is mostly undeveloped, but the town development plan does include an area on the island for up to 500 homes. History There are signs of ancient human activity on Odderøya. Witch
Witchcraft traditionally means the use of Magic (supernatural), magic or supernatural powers to harm others. A practitioner is a witch. In Middle Ages, medieval and early modern Europe, where the term originated, accused witches were usually women who were believed to have used Black magic, malevolent magic against their own community, and often to have communed with evil beings. It was thought witchcraft could be thwarted by Apotropaic magic, protective magic or counter-magic, which could be provided by cunning folk or folk healers. TV 2 (''TV to'') is a Norwegian terrestrial television channel. Its headquarters are located in Bergen. TV 2 began test broadcasting on 13 November 1991, and a year later, it was officially launched on 5 September 1992, becoming Norway's first commercial free-to-air television channel. Skaugum
Skaugum is an estate, manor house and the official residence of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The estate is located in Asker municipality, southwest of Oslo, by the foot of the mountain Skaugumsåsen. The estate consists of of agricultural lands and of woodlands. History The estate was originally Church property during the Middle Ages, and passed through several owners until 1909, when Fritz Wedel Jarlsberg bought it. When Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Märtha were married in 1929, Wedel-Jarlsberg sold it to the couple. In 1937, Prince Harald was born on the estate. Wedel-Jarlsberg's Swiss chalet style-residence, designed by Herman Backer and completed in 1891, burned to the ground in 1930. Arnstein Rynning Arneberg (6 July 1882 – 9 June 1961) was a Norwegian architect. He was active professionally for 50 years and is often considered the leading architect in Norway of his time. Personal life Arnstein Rynning Arneberg was born in Fredrikshald (now Halden) as a son of factory manager Mauritz Otto Edward Arneberg (1845–1913) and Hermione Nicoline Mathilde Rynning (1858–1944). Arneberg grew up in Lysaker in Oslo. In 1910 he married Aagot Kielland Skavlan (1888–1960), a daughter of professor Olaf Skavlan. After the marriage was dissolved in 1923 Arneberg married Eva Elisabeth Reimers (1901–1987). Mette-Marit, Crown Princess of Norway (born Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby, , on 19 August 1973) is the wife of Crown Prince Haakon. Haakon is the heir apparent to the throne, which means that should he ascend to the throne, she will automatically become Queen consort of Norway. A Norwegian commoner and single mother with a disadvantaged past, she was a controversial figure at the time of her engagement to Haakon in 2000. German Occupation Of Norway
The occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany during the Second World War began on 9 April 1940 after Operation Weserübung. Conventional armed resistance to the German invasion ended on 10 June 1940, and Nazi Germany controlled Norway until the capitulation of German forces in Europe on 8 May 1945.
