Dutch Union Of Hotel, Restaurant And Cafe Workers
The Catering Union ( nl, Horecabond) is a trade union representing workers in the hospitality sector in the Netherlands. The union was founded in 1919, with the merger of the Dutch Central Union of Personnel in the Hotel, Cafe and Restaurant Business, the Dutch Chefs' Union, and the Dutch Geneva Union of Hotel, Cafe and Restaurant Staff. It was originally named the Union of Hotel, Cafe and Restaurant Personnel in the Netherlands, and it affiliated to the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV). In the 1930s, the union formed a federation with the Dutch Roman Catholic Union of Hotel, Cafe and Restaurant Employees. By 1964, the union had 6,208 members. The union was later renamed as the Dutch Union of Hotel, Cafe and Restaurant Personnel, and it transferred to the Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (FNV) when the NVV merged into it. Dutch Confederation Of Trade Unions
The Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions ( nl, Nederlands Verbond van Vakverenigingen, NVV) was a Dutch social-democratic trade union. History The NVV was founded in 1906 as a merger of fifteen smaller unions, as a result of the inability of the previous unions to control the radical elements of the workers movement in the railworkers' strike of 1903. The NVV was led by Henri Polak, who was a prominent member of the socialist Social Democratic Workers' Party. During World War II the NVV was taken over by the German occupiers, its Dutch leader was Henk Woudenberg. Under the German occupation the NVV was transformed into a Nazi union. After the war these influences were purged and the NVV cooperated tightly with the centre left government to create a welfare state based on the principles of corporatism. The Federation of Dutch Trade Unions ( nl, Federatie Nederlandse Vakbeweging, FNV) is a national trade union centre in the Netherlands. In addition to member unions, workers in many sectors can join the FNV directly. History The FNV was founded in 1976 from the merger of the Dutch Catholic Trade Union Federation (NKV) and the social-democratic Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV). The Protestant Christian National Trade Union Federation (CNV) originally also participated in the talks, but it refused to fully merge into a new union. The federation was founded because of declining membership, due to depillarisation and increasing political polarisation between left and right. Food Workers' Union
The Food Workers' Union ( nl, Voedingsbond, VB) was a general union for agricultural and food production workers, in the Netherlands. The union was founded in 1980, with the merger of the Industrial Union of Agriculture and Food and the Catholic Union of Agriculture, Food and Tobacco. These unions had previously been affiliated to the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV) and Dutch Catholic Trade Union Federation (NKV), respectively, but the two federations were in the process of merging to form the Dutch Federation of Trade Unions (FNV), to which the new union affiliated. The Food Workers' Union was the first to be formed in this way, with others following over the next two years.
