Dutch Major League
The Honkbal Hoofdklasse (Dutch language, Dutch for ''Major League Baseball'') is the highest level of professional baseball in the Baseball in the Netherlands, Netherlands. It is an eight-team sports league, league that plays a 42-game schedule and is overseen by the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB). Games are played principally on weekends. The season runs from April to September and is followed by the playoffs among the four best teams, which culminates in the Holland Series. Both of the playoff rounds are best-of-five. The league follows a promotion and relegation system with the Honkbal Eerste klasse, Eerste klasse so that the composition of both levels changes from year to year. It is a twelve-team sports league, league that plays a 22-game schedule followed by two separate 15-game schedules for the best six teams and the weakest six teams, and is overseen by the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation, KNBSB. DSS is a baseball and softball club based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The 2,500 capacity Pim Mulier Stadium is their home venue. Pioniers is a baseball and softball team based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The club is currently sponsored by Raamsdonkveer-based construction company ''Vaessen BV'' and the team is officially known as the Vaessen Pioniers. Pioniers baseball team plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the top level of professional baseball in the Netherlands. The club's most successful year was 1997 they reached the Holland Series for the first time in the club's history by beating reigning champions DOOR Neptunus in the play-offs. Amsterdam Tigers are an ice hockey team in Amsterdam, Netherlands, playing in the First Division. History The Tigers existed in various guises from their foundation in 1963 until 2010 when the professional team folded, leaving only the amateur and junior teams. The team reformed in time for the 2014-15 Eerste Divisie season. The following season they moved up to the newly formed BeNe League, where they remained until the 2019-20 season. Ahead of the 2019-20 BeNe Season, the Tigers announced they would be leaving the league and joining the Dutch First Division. Amsterdam Pirates is a Dutch baseball and softball organization based in Amsterdam. It was founded as an expansion of the football club SV Rap on 17 February 1959 by Loek Loevendie. In the first years it was known as the RAP Pirates, but after a few years the club changed its name according to American tradition (first city name, then franchise name) and became the Amsterdam Pirates.
